Video Contest!
The Knox Adolescent Partners in Prevention Initiative (KAPPI) is calling for entries to avideo competition. Knox County teens are invited to produce a 30 second video spot targeted at teens.
Prizes:
1st Place: $100 for each team member, plus $250 for the sponsoring teacher/advisor
2nd Place: $50 for each team member, plus $100 for the sponsoring teacher/advisor
3rd Place: $25 for each team member, plus $50 for the sponsoring teacher/advisor
Deadline for Final Submissions: Friday, March 6, 2015
Notification of Interest to submit: Friday, February 20, 2015

JUDGING CRITERIA :
A panel of local media professionals will review the entries. Submissions will be judged on the following criteria:
- Clarity of communicating theme
- Originality, artistic merit, creative expression
- Technical skill: direction, lighting, sound, camera work
- Effectiveness at motivating, encouraging behavior change
The top 10 entries by judges’ vote will be posted to the mybodymyfuture.com website for a popular vote by the community at large. Winners will be awarded based on a combination of judges’ score (50%) and popular vote (50%).
Suggestions:
- Even if your school doesn’t have video equipment, you can film your video using equipment you already have (laptop, iPad, webcam) then edit using software on your computer (Windows Movie Maker or iMovie).
- Include a definite call to action.
- Keep in mind your target audience - teenagers.
- Teens respond well to messages that are empowering, that promote positive values, and that recognize their hopes and dreams.
- Light hearted is fine, ridicule is not.
- Positive peer pressure can be effective.
- Visit the mybodymyfuture.com website for examples of past winners.
Entries:
Entries must be submitted by Friday, March 6 at 3:00 PM. Notifyus by Friday, February 20 of your intention to submit and we will send you a link for submission. Permission forms must be sent to by March 6.
About Us:
The mission of KAPPI is to prevent adolescent pregnancy through a comprehensive, community wide collaborative effort that promotes abstinence, self-respect, and responsible decision making about sexuality and other health issues. For over 20 years KAPPI has worked with the Knox County Schools, the Knox County Health Department and community organizations. Our activities include the Baby Think It Over Program, the T-TOPS conference for pregnant and parenting teens, and our website mybodymyfuture.com. The website and contest are approved for use in Knox County High Schools.

Teens are invited to produce a 30 second video spot on the theme of Healthy vs. Unhealthy Relationships.The competition is open to teens under age 20.
Entry forms and guidelines are attached. Please note that the sponsoring organization of the winning team receives a $250 prize. Your organization may sponsor more than one entry.
