EVENT INFORMATION
The Police National Judo Championships 2015 will be hosted by the Metropolitan Police Serviceand held in the University of East London, Sports Dock, 4-6 University Way, LondonE16 2RD on Saturday 5th September 2015.
VENUE OF CHAMPIONSHIPS & ACCOMMODATION
UEL Sports Dock is on the Docklands Campus in the heart of East London. The venue is right by the water’s edge of the historic Royal Victoria Docks. The area has undergone substantial redevelopment and is now home to the O2 Centre, CanaryWharf, the Westfield Shopping Centre and several 2012 Olympic venues, including the Excel Centre, which was used for the Judo.
Accommodation has been arranged nearby at the Novotel, 7 Western Gateway, Royal Victoria Dock, E16 1AA Tel 0207 6600. (
Competitors should arrive no earlier than 1600 hours on Friday 4th September 2015.
Accommodation on a Bed and Breakfast basis is available either in double rooms for partners or sharing a twin room. Please advise the organisers of any dietary requirement or disability.
The MPJC has tried to organise an event that will cater for not just for those wishing just to enter the competition but will also provide an interesting visit to the capital. The venue is easy to reach by all types of transport and is close to many iconic London sites such as TowerBridge and the Tower of London and has easy underground access
It is hoped that all Forces will give their support by encouraging as many competitors, and guests as possible to attend the Championships and we encourage any supporters to also remain for the presentation dinner.
DIRECTIONS
The hotel is situated on the waterfront right by the Excel centre and is 3 minutes walk from Customs House station on the Docklands Light Railway. Travel across London by road can be difficult especially at peak times so we recommend public transport where possible. There are easy links from Heathrow and GatwickAirports to Custom House taking approximately one hour. LondonCityAirport has it’s own stop on the DLR and is only 20 minutes from the hotel. For those travelling by rail every overland rail station in Central London links directly to the underground system and it should take less than one hour for onward travel to Custom House. Parking is available at the hotel at a cost of £16 per night. The hotel car park has a height limit of 2 metres. Limited free parking is available at the venue. Please advise if you intend to bring your own car. A shuttle mini bus will run from the hotel to the venue on the day.
ENTRY AND ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation is provided on a bed and full English buffet breakfast basis, with an evening meal available on Saturday for the medals presentation. Rooms contain a double bed plus sofa bed and are suitable for couples or sharing on a twin basis.
