Who are we?

The Early Years SEN team are one of a number of services who support families with young children who have developmental and/or learning needs during their pre-school years.

What do we do?

Starting with the knowledge you have of your child we will work closely with you to support your child’s development.

In order to provide the best support for your child we also work alongside other professionals such as; Health visitors, Speech and Language Therapists and staff from Children’s Centres and pre-schools.

What we do to support your child will be individually planned with you, using your expertise and our specialist knowledge of early childhood development and special educational needs.

What might we do whilst working with you and your child?

  • We may visit children either at home and/ or in their Early Years setting in order to help put in place specialist strategies to support their development.
  • We support children through stages of transition, for example when they are moving into pre –school or into school.
  • We offer information and advice and if it helpful can introduce families to local provision.

Who can request our involvement?

Requests come from parents, or professionals working with the family including health visitors, community paediatricians, speech and language therapists and staff from early years settings.

In the team there are;

Early Years SEN Inclusion Teachers; theseare specialist advisory teachers who are qualified, skilled and experienced in working with children (birth to five) with Special Educational Needs.
