January 15, 2014 – The Smith Foundation Scholarships are designed to help young Alabamians obtain a higher education and fulfill their personal goals to become leaders and give back to their communities. It provides up to $15,000 per year after all other financial aid is applied. Student must have a minimum of a C+ grade point average, plan to attend a 4-yr. public college in Alabama (nursing students may attend a 2-year program), and significant contribution to family or community. January 15, 2014 – Auburn University’s College of Agriculture offers over $500,000 in scholarships. To apply, go to

January 15, 2014 – Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation - Gate’s Millennium Scholars offers a scholarship for seniors who have at least a 3.3 GPA. Visit to apply.

January 15, 2014 – Troy University’s Leadership Scholarship is now available. Must have a 22 ACT or 1030 SAT and a 3.0 GPA. Student will also go through with an interview after completing application. A resume is required. To apply, go to

January 25, 2014 – The University of Alabama Department of Theatre and Dance is having auditions for departmental scholarships and admission to the musical theatre track, as well as portfolio review for design/tech students. Visit to find more information and an online form.

January 27, 2014–BlackCollege Expo Scholarship Contest – Must write an essay and be able to attend the expo in Atlanta on Feb. 8. See Mrs. Fox for more information.

January 31, 2014 – The University of Mobile is hosting an UMobile Visit Day. If you are interested in attending and apply for admission at the visit day, the University will be giving away one $2,000 scholarship. Visit for more information.

January 31, 2014 – The Alabama School Public Relations Association is offering a scholarship for students who plan to seek a degree in communications, public relations, or a related field. Must have a 3.0 GPA. See Mrs. Fox for an application.

February 1, 2014 – AXA Achievement Community Scholarship – Giving scholarships of $2,000. Visit to learn more and apply online.

February 1, 2014 – The Dixie Youth Baseball Scholarship of $2,000 is now available to any 12th grader that has participated in the baseball league before age 13. See Mrs. Fox for an application.

February 1, 2014 – The Sports Quest Playing With a Purpose Scholarship Program is now accepting applications. Any sophomore, junior, or senior athlete who has a “C” average or higher and is a committed follower of Jesus Christ, may apply online at

February 1, 2014 – Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY, is offering freshman students technology scholarship opportunities. Apply at

February 7, 2014 – Students attending The University of Alabama and majoring in Art History or Art may apply for departmental scholarships. See Mrs. Fox, if you are interested.

February 8, 2014 – Any 9-12 grade student who would like to participate in the American Legion High School Oratorical Contest, see Mrs. Fox. Scholarships are awarded to the winners.

February 14, 2014 – The National Co-op Scholarship Program Scholarship application is now available. Students must have a 3.5 GPA, and apply and be accepted at one of the partner institutions. See Mrs. Fox for more information or go to Early applications are highly encouraged.

March 3, 2014 – SheltonState scholarship application is due by this date at 6:00 p.m. They offer the following types of scholarships: academic, ambassador, athletic, cheerleading, fine arts, reach, Shelton Summer Studies, and technical scholarships. The senior student must be the dependent son or daughter of a US Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Guardsman, or Marine who has become permanently disabled as a result of an operational mission or training accident, who has been killed in action, or who has been classified as a POW or as MIA. The Christian Connector provides a free Christian college information service as well as a $2,500 Christian college scholarshipdrawing. Students can log onto to request information and automatically be entered in the scholarship drawing.
