Job TitleYouth Support Worker
Responsible to:Housing Support Project Manager
Location:Mansfield Hostel and Transitional homeswith travel to other sites as required
Hours: 22.5 hours per week.(Includingdays, evenings, weekends and Bank holidays)
Salary:Circa £12,000 per annum dependent on experience
Duration:Up to on or before 31 March 2018 initially with possible extension / permanency subject to further funding
Role purpose
- To be responsible for planning, organising and delivering programmes designed to redress inequalities and facilitate the personal, social and emotional development of young people between the ages of 16-25.
- To provide specialist guidance to young people in our accommodation to effectively prepare them to be successful in achieving independent living.
- To support residents into employment on a one to one and group basis by helping to remove barriers and become job ready by providing training, challenge and signposting.
- To source, build and sustain relationships with external agencies to secure and maintainwork, training and volunteering opportunities for residents
- To support the development of an organisational culture that puts our Christian Core Values– Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility - at the centre of all we do.
1 Principal Responsibilities
1.1Service Delivery:
1.1.1To lead in the development, implementation and delivery of life skills programmes and engage with outdoor educational delivery partners
1.1.2To provide information, advice and guidance to all residents with reference to other agencies as necessary
1.1.3To develop new and existing partnerships with local colleges, councils, other support organisations and employers
1.1.4To take the lead in developing and setting up various residents’ engagement meetings
1.1.5To provide a consistent best practice approach to resident engagement so that they are able to shape the services they receive.
1.1.6To organise and take part in resident’s internal/external activities
1.1.7To attend/visit off site locations with residents as necessary
1.1.8To seek and apply good practice in relation to all aspects of training and working with vulnerable young people, including health and safety, safeguarding etc
1.2Administration:
1.2.1To maintain effective filing and office systems, manual and automated
1.2.2To manage and monitor engagement targets and statistics
1.2.3To complete statutory forms and write reports
1.2.4To process, monitor and review applications for training and volunteering opportunities
1.2.5To attend and take minutes at meetings when necessary
1.2.6To undertake other administrative tasks as required
1.2.7To report any repairs, incidents etc in the appropriate way

1Ambassador for the YMCA
To act as an advocate and ambassador of the YMCA; promoting and exemplifying the YMCA’s core values, mission, vision, and ethos and to positively and proactively protect the YMCA’s reputation.
2 Other Duties
To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by your Line Manager or anyone else designated by the Chief Executive Officer, as necessary. To work in a flexible way to ensure that workload is completed and to undertake any other jobs commensurate with the seniority of the post.
3 Discretion to Act
To exercise discretion in the performance of the duties of the post, to use best practice and to ensure the effective and efficient use of resources.
Nothing in this Job Description is intended to authorise the post-holder to undertake responsibilities that belong properly to trustees and members of the Executive Management Team unless properly authorised to do so by the Chief Executive directly or through an appropriate manager.
