JUSTIFICATION OF ASSET: (Explain the necessity and benefits of acquiring this asset)

Rewrite OCR (Optical Character recognition)

This software package is used to scan a static hardcopy and convert it into either MSWord or MSExcel format. Lengthy documents or old charts etc, can be converted instantly into editable formats. This software has been asked for time & again by the engineers and upper management. Acquiring Rewrite will save time and money by allowing personnel to create & edit documents that otherwise would have to have been re-typed. All Grand Island personnel will have access to these capabilities. See attached example.

A 30 day free trial was installed with the engineering copier, and so far Ron Pokorski, John Campbell, Paul Costanzo, Marc Lorenc and I have used the capability.

E Copy Desktop

This program allows the import and mark up of virtually any file. It is much like Adobe Acrobat Professional, but much easier to use, and licensing is about half the cost. License availability is also superior to Adobe Acrobat Professional. Users would be able to add notations, do full color mark ups, hide sensitive content, secure files add hyperlinks and create forms. The stamp tool allows for quick approval & verification of documents, as well as stamping of signatures. E Copy Desktop would allow paperless mark-ups, saving the time & the cost of printing documents, making notations or signing, then re-scanning. Copiers will also be freed up more as a result, increasing productivity. Comparison: E Copy desktop cost: $200 per license vs. Adobe Acrobat Pro: t $427 Per license

We propose 10 licenses for the following personnel: Todd Chalmers, Janet Fronczek, Chris Jestadt, Robin Beyer, Don Travis, Nick Morse, Mark Lorenc, Phil Welty and Aaron Piskorowski. One license would be used as a floater - to be used by any employee for a finite period of time as needed.

Todd Chalmers considers this an essential tool for the Engineering Department. And with the floater license, any employee can use the program as needed.

203SD Fax/Copier Reception area

Replaces aging fax machine AND printer in Reception with single fax machine that adds copy, scan & print functions. Eliminate $95 Staples cost for ink. This will also be a network printer so Natalie, Dottie etc. will be able to access the machine from their desktop.
