Term Project – Kingdom Book

Directions:Each student will create a comprehensive binder with a collection of materials for our studies of whole organisms.
Kingdom Book Criteria:
1) Students are to work independently - no partners!!!
2)Your booklet must contain the following:
oDecorated cover
oTable of contents- with title and page #
oThe book must be divided into the sections listed below. Each section must have its own identifying tab.
▪Prokaryotes
- Archaebacteria
- Eubacteria
▪Eukaryotes
- Protists
- Fungi
- Animals
3)Each section must have it’s own cover page with the following information:
- Name and 4 specific characteristics of the division
(Example: Fungi – 1) heterotrophic, 2) decomposers, 3) lack true roots 4) produce spores)
- A drawing or picture of an example organism from that division
4)After each cover page, each section must contain information about the specific organisms we studied in class. Information must include:
- Class notes on that section- printed power point with your own added notes
- Worksheets given in class, specific to that section
- Your graded lab/dissection done in class – all lab diagrams must be labeled and colored appropriately!
5) We will do an in depth study specifically into the Kingdom of Animalia. Therefore, this section will be further divided into the different phyla with a cover page for each phyla.Cover page and section requirments ar the same as above!!
6)Construct a table comparing and contrasting the organ systems of the animal kingdom phyla that we studied. (this chart will go in the front of the Animalia section of your Kingdom book!)
The following organ systems must be included:

▪Digestive
▪Excretory / urinary
▪Nervous
▪Reproductive system
7)DO NOT USE PAGE PROTECTORS ON YOUR PROJECT!
8)Print rubric from class website and turn in with project!!!

d)Simple Invertebrates- Sponge/ Hydra/ Planarian/ Rotifera/ Turbatrix

f)Earthworm
g)Insects- Grasshopper
h)Cnidarians- Starfish
i)Fish- Perch
j)Amphibians- Frog
k)Reptile- online dissection
l)Birds- Feather Lab
m)Mammals- Fetal pig
n)Plants- Flower Dissection
