Acid Sulfate Soil Code

Performance Criterion and Acceptable Solution

Performance Criteria / Acceptable Solutions
P1 Environmental values and ecological health of receiving waters must be protected
Assets must not be subject to accelerated corrosion / A1.1 No potential or actual acid sulfate soils are disturbed by the proposal
Note: This can be demonstrated through the submission of an Acid Sulfate Soil Investigation Report with reference to the Acid Sulfate Soil Planning Scheme Policy
OR
A1.2 Where less than 500m3 of soil is disturbed and the watertable is not affected, the disturbance impacts in areas that host potential acid sulfate soils are appropriately managed
Note: This can be demonstrated through the submission of an Acid Sulfate Soil Investigation Report and an Acid Sulfate Soil Preliminary Management Plan (referring to the Acid Sulfate Soil Planning Scheme Policy) detailing:
• the sampling and analysis procedures to be adopted
• the method of treating/managing soils, if required
• the proposed monitoring procedures, if required
OR
A1.3 Where 500m3 or more of soil is disturbed and/or where affecting the watertable in areas that host potential or actual acid sulfate soils, impacts can be appropriately managed
Note: This can be demonstrated through the submission of an Acid Sulfate Soil Investigation Report and Management Plan(1) (referring to the Acid Sulfate Soil Planning Scheme Policy) using levels of testing commensurate with the level of risk

(1) If the investigation demonstrates that an Acid Sulfate Soil Management Plan is not required, only an Investigation Report is required
