Thirty-First Sunday of Ordinary Times

Mission Statement

We, the Roman Catholic Parish of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, are an all-embracing, diverse Christian community who warmly welcomes everyone to join us. We draw closer to God and one another through worship, which nourishes us for service to our brothers and sisters. We choose to combine our many gifts to teach, celebrate, evangelize, help those in need and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus in word and deed. Amen.

NOTES FROM FR. ROGER

MENSAJES DE PADRE ROGER

Greetings Dear Parishioners…I hope that all were safe and dry during the hurricane/nor’easter that came down upon us early this past week. It is a time to help one another and to realize that God and Nature are truly powerful and that at these times, we as human being realize our place in the large picture that is the universe. I made a visit to the church building often to make sure that all was well here…you have built well, it survived well during those wet days.

Also, thank you for the tremendous show of support, love and respect that was offered to His Eminence Christian Cardinal Tumi during his stay here at our beloved parish. He wishes to extend to all of you a tremendous word of thanks and praise. The Cardinal says that, you the parishioners have given him one of the best weeks he has ever had while visiting a town or parish. He is truly impressed, as am I, for your dedicated ministry to this historic moment for Seton Parish.

It is good to see the parishioners think large and think universally…it reminds us that we are part of a very large and exciting world and church.

And today we welcome Bishop Malooly to the 11am Mass for the celebration of the annual St. Marin dePorress Feast. We are honored to have the Bishop celebrate this Diocese event here at Seton. We welcome also the Diocesan Gospel Choir. With the clocks changing once again, be at peace. For darkness cannot conqueror the light of Christ which shines from within our hearts and from within our Faith Tradition.

Pilgrimage to New York City…Monday, January 7th…in order to celebrate Mother Seton’s Feast Day, and our 35th Anniversary as a parish, and to gear up for our April pilgrimage to Ireland, the parish is sponsoring a day in NYC. We will visit Mother Seton’s Home and Shrine in Lower Manhattan, enjoy free time and lunch (on your own) at South Seaport, then tour St. Patrick’s Cathedral concluding with Mass. Bus departs Seton at 7:30 am and returns at 6:30 pm. Then awaiting us in the Parish Hall will be a warm and joyful Italia dinner where we can reflect on the activities of the day together. Cost, including bus, snack, tips for drivers, donations to Shrine and Cathedral, and dinner (by Trattoria di Napoli) is $60 per person ($50 w/out dinner). We will take as many buses as needed so all can enjoy this moment together. Deadline for reservations will be Nov. 5th. Your payment by check made out to Seton Parish, goes to Fr. Roger. It will secure your reservation. Hope to see you all on the bus!
