2017 MJL ELITE Team Tryouts
For The Future of the Game! /
What: The MJL (MISO Junior League) will be holding tryouts to select MJL Elite teams, to provide an opportunity for the League’s elite youth players
Age Groups: The tryouts are for all current ’06 Boys and Girls (Japan) and ’04 Boys (Uruguay) born MJL Registered Boys (some Neighbor Island USCS registered players will also be invited to participate, but will have separate tryouts)
When & Where: The tryouts (’06) will take place on Saturday November 4th, 9:00am – 11:00am and on Sunday November 5th, 9:00am – 11:00am, at Waipio Soccer Complex Field 15 & 18. Check-in will begin at 8:00am. The ’04s tryouts will be held in conjunction with the USCS PDS event (invitation only). An open tryout, if necessary, will be announced later on.
What to Bring: A water bottle, your soccer gear and a size 4 ball. Please do not wear any articles of clothing that promotes a specific local Team or Club. This is the MJL Elite Team tryout, players will be judged by their skills, not their affiliations.
Purpose: The purpose of these tryouts is to promote Hawaii soccer and its players beyond the Hawaii and US frontiers, by showcasing the players to some professional youth programs coaches & scouts. While doing this, also allowing the participating players an experience of a lifetime, as they’ll get to see firsthand how other countries embrace and integrate the sport into their cultures, as well as seeing firsthand how some of the professional teams train and run their facilities.
Selection of Players: The tryouts will be conducted by MJL DOC Tony Stephanov, Duke Hashimoto and Lawrence Smalls, with the assistance of the MJL and some qualified local coaches. A series of drills will be performed to evaluate each player.
Forms & Other Requirements: Upon being informed that your son or daughter has made the cut for the MJL Elite Team, parents will need to submit the following items within two week: Full Legal Name of the Player’s Birth Certificate, USCS Waiver Form, Picture, Passport info, Parental/Guardian Approval for Minor to Travel and Medical Authorization (for kids traveling solo) list of any allergies or health issues the player may have and a $500 non-refundable deposit, which will be applied towards the trips total fees.
Costs: There will be a $40 fee for the tryouts. Additionally, there’ll be a cost for the selected players going on the trip. This cost will include airfare, accommodations, most meals, ground transportation, coaches fees, uniforms tournament fees and other necessary expenses. We’re currently working with some travel agencies, hotels and others to get the best prices possible. Once we finalize all arrangements, we’ll announce the entire package price. We’ll also approach potential sponsors to help keep the prices low. Parents are welcomed, but not obliged, to travel with the Teams. MJL Elite will make all the necessary arrangements for the teams and parents to travel together and stay at the same or nearby hotels, as well as arrange all the ground transportation and events/functions that the teams and parents will attend/participate.
Travel Dates: For the ’06 (12U) we’re currently looking at departing on mid to late July.. The length of the trip would be 10-12 days. For the ’04 (14U) we’re looking at early June or mid to late July as well.
Number of Games: We’re looking at a minimum of 5 aged appropriate games. However it is most likely that the games count will be more than that.
Teams Rosters: The MJL Elite teams will consist of 14-16 players max per team.

I the undersigned parent/guardian, acknowledge, appreciate, and agree that the risk of injury to my child from the activities involved in this tryouts is significant, including the potential for permanent paralysis and death. I KNOWINGLY AND FREELY ASSUME ALL SUCH RISKS, both known and unknown, EVEN IF ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES or others, and assume full responsibility for the participation of the above named player. I HEREBY RELEASE, INDEMNIFY, AND HOLD HARMLESS MJL and his assistants, /or employers, other participants, sponsors, and, if applicable, owners and leasors of premises used to conduct the event (RELEASEES), WITH RESPECT TO ANY AND ALL INJURY, DISABILLITY, DEATH, or loss or damage to my child, WHETHER ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES OR OTHERWISE, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
By waiving any right to assert a claim, as a parent/guardian with legal responsibility for this participant, I consent and agree to his/her release as provided above of the Releasees, and for myself, and my heirs, I release and agree to indemnify and hold harmless MJL and his assistants from any and all liability incidents to my minor child’s involvement or participation in the MJL Elite tryouts 2014 as provided above, EVEN IF ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
I HAVE READ THIS RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK AGREEMENT, FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS TERMS, AND AGREE TO BE FULLY BOUND BY IT!
I certify that my child is in a good physical health and has my permission to participate in all activities associated with MJL Elite tryouts 2018 .
I also authorize emergency medical treatment deemed appropriate and necessary by any coach, assistant coach, or representative for participant, including transportation to the nearest medical facility adequate to treat the emergency, and I herby give consent for emergency medical care prescribed by a duly licensed Doctor of Medicine. This care may be given under whatever conditions are necessary to preserve the life, limb or well-being of my dependent.
Media Consent: I consent and give permission to the MJL to photograph my child and the right to copyright, duplicate, and display, distribute, and/or publish any such photographs for the purpose of promoting the MJL in any forms but not limited to print, electronic, video, and internet.
Upon my child being accepted to form part of the MJL Elite Team, I will submit all the required forms and information as well as the required non-refundable deposit ($500) and all other scheduled payments within the scheduled/requested time frame. Failure to do this, may disqualify my child from participating with the team.
