2013-Present Principal and Managing Director Uniglobe Imports
Uniglobe Imports is a consulting firm that provides merchandising, marketing and manufacturing services to the upper end furniture and home décor companies. The company concentrates on furniture, accessories, lighting, wall art, decorative hardware, quality assurance and quality control, product development, production monitoring and sourcing.
2009-2013 Vice President of Product Development, Quality & Sourcing Edem Furniture
Edem Furniture of Russia is an importer of residential furniture including bathroom vanities and home décor items (lighting, paintings, wall art, florals, and textiles) in China, Vietnam and Malaysia for sale in Russia. The company has both retail stores and a wholesale business that generates annual sales of $180 million.
· Responsible for system-wide product sourcing with regular factory visits, contract negotiations, procurement, distribution, and quality assurance of products and services in support of the organization’s strategic direction and objectives.
· Developed a balanced product assortment to achieve and exceed the financial by capturing new emerging trends as well as securing core program items.
· Ensured that all business activities were aligned with the corporate strategies and financial objectives measured through revenue growth, market growth, increase market share in existing markets and maximize new business opportunities.
2006-2009 Vice President of International Operations Douglas Furniture
Douglas Furniture of California is a manufacturer in Mexico and an importer of upholstery items, casual dining furniture, leather and textile rolls in China, Vietnam and Malaysia. The company had annual sales of $100 million. Customers were furniture retail stores and wholesale outlets throughout the US.
Managed the Douglas operations and production facilities in China, Malaysia, Vietnam and Mexico, including the monitoring and adherence to scheduling manufacturing, quality assurance functions and daily communications with the US corporate office and Mexico factory.
Developed a direct upholstery container and warehouse program of 80 -100 monthly containers which resulted in increased annual sales of $10-15 million.
Designed and managed the development of the company’s Casual Dining Collections in China, Malaysia and Vietnam for both direct container and Mexico warehouse programs. This collection added an additional $15 million in annual sales.
Developed capital savings programs which certified high quality cost-effective Chinese and Mexican vendors resulting in a savings of $500,000 in annual expenses.
Established procurement teams (China, Vietnam & Malaysia) to find the best cost options for all purchased materials to support the Tijuana, Mexico facility. These teams were responsible to source leather and fabric rolls, hardware, foam and cartons while maintaining JIT. The program resulted in annual cost savings of 3 million.
2004-2006 Vice President of Operations & Supply Chain Planex International
Planex International is a NYC furniture agent who sells casegoods, occasionals and home office furniture. Customers included Hooker, Hammary, Magnussen, Heckman, Kincaid and Natuzzi. The company has annual sales of $45 million.
Developed new products, including dining, bedroom, home office, occasionals and bathroom vanities for US customers resulting in an additional $20 million in annual sales.
Established the sourcing, engineering, packaging, and quality assurance organization to support the company’s long term product, delivery and pricing requirements.
Developed a factory to customer direct container program that made lower pricing available to qualified, high volume retail and wholesale customers.
2000-2004 Vice President of Product Development, Operations & Quality Hung Sing Brass
Hung Sing Brass is a Hong Kong manufacturer and exporter in China of residential lighting, metal and wood bedrooms and occasionals along with bathroom vanities for the US retail and wholesale markets.
Developed residential lighting, metal bedroom and dining collections and occasionals for the US market which resulted in additional $20 million annually.
Performed extensive competitive analysis of the U.S. market which was used for determining the product image, future introductions and company strategy.
Analyzed and identified key U.S. furniture customers then developed products that complimented their existing product assortment for their US customers.
1996 -2000 Vice President of Merchandising Steve Silver Company
Steve Silver Company is located in Forney, Texas and is an importer / wholesaler of casual dining and occasionals. The company has annual sales of $80 million.
Developed products throughout Southeast Asia for the US home furnishings market which resulted in $25 million in additional annual sales.
Established SSC offices in China, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia which monitored each factory’s adherence to scheduling and quality assurance standards.
