8th Grade Mathematics—Miss Chandler
Hello, and welcome to the 2015/2016 school year. I hope you had a fun and relaxing summer and are looking forward to a productive year. The 8th grade math curriculum, digits, is a program aligned to meet the Common Core State Standards. Students will have access to both online resources and a textbook to support their learning.
Notebooks/Homework/Exams:
Students are required to maintain a math notebook, comprised of class notes and all homework assignments (completed online or from the textbook). Homework will be given most days, Monday through Friday. All work must be done in pencil; notebooks will be graded with a rubric (see back).
Notes, homework, quizzes and exam make-ups are the responsibility of the student and must be completed. Students will have as many days as they were absent to make up the work. As a rule of thumb, I do not accept late assignments. Students should speak with me in private, before or after school, if there is a need for me to make an exception to this rule.
Grades:
Grades are based on the completion of notebooks, homework assignments, quizzes, projects and exams. Missing work resulting in a zero will quickly lower a grade. I utilize the traditional grading scale:
90-100 % = A
80-89% = B
70-79% = C
60-69% = D
Below 60% = F
