Children use the experiences that they have been learning about and explore them through: materials, tools, colour, texture and design. This is through child-led free flow sessions.
This should include: drawing lines and circles, using scissors, holding a pencil, using simple tools to effect changes to materials, handle tools, objects and malleable materials safely and with increasing control, explore colour and how colours can be changed, understand that they can use lines to enclose a space and use these spaces to represent objects, describe the texture of things, explore what happens when you mix colours, create different textures, combine different media, manipulate materials to achieve a planned effect, select appropriate resources, experiment with colour, design, texture, form and function, create props for role play, capture experiences and responses with a range of media, create simple representations of events, people and objects, choose particular colours for a purpose, represent their own ideas, thoughts and feelings.
