2017 CANAL WINCHESTER MINOR Baseball RULES

PARTICIPANTS: / PLAYER PARTICPATION

Players will be 9 years old as of December 31, 2017 or 10 years old as of April 30, 2017.

60’ Bases 46’ mound. TOURNAMENT PARTICIPATION: each player must play 3 defensive Innings.

Player participation: Each player will play a minimum of 3 innings per game defensively. Each coach will be required to have each player play 5 complete games defensively. Complete games will be submitted to the division director (The concession stand) upon completion of each game. The complete game requirement is for players who attend all or 11 of the scheduled 12 games. Each game missed beyond 1 will be considered a complete defensive game. A MIX of playing time in infield and outfield positions is recommended for each player within the season. No player can sit two innings in a row. No player shall sit two innings without all team members sitting at least one. No player shall play the same position for more than two innings in a row.

Every player will be in batting order.

TOURNAMENT PARTICIPATION: each player must play 3 defensive Innings.

GAME OVERVIEW:

MERCY RULE- 15 runs after 4 innings or 10 runs after 5 innings

NO LEAD OFFS. INFIELD FLY RULE IN EFFECT.

The game shall consist of 6 innings or 2 hours. NO NEW INNING WILL BEGIN AFTER 1:55 has elapsed.

Each team will deploy 10 defensive players.

There will be a 10 batter per inning rule. No team shall bring more than 10 batters to the plate in any given inning. When the 10th batter is up the inning ends when (1) the defensive team records an out. If it is a force play no run will be scored (2) Lead runner has stopped forward progress (3) All runners are off the bases.

Runners will be allowed to steal the next base after a pitched ball crosses the plate. Runners on third may steal home. Once a runner on third has stopped his forward progress, he will return to third base until the next pitch. (Concept to be taught is for Catchers and Pitchers to check the runner-Please no dance contests) When stealing home, once the runner has stopped forward progress the play is dead. The runner has to return to third base.

Pitchers may pitch no more than 3 innings per game. I pitch equals an inning. Pitcher may return to mound in the same game if he has not pitched a third inning or exceeded his weekly total. Total Innings for a single pitcher in a week Monday through Sunday shall not exceed 6 innings if 2 games are played. 8 innings if 3 or more games are played in a single week. Coaches will report innings pitched each night. Any violation of the innings rule will result in the offending team forfeiting the game.

Ball 4 is a dead ball, strike three is live though.. Runners may advance. If strike three is called or swinging with two (2) outs the inning is over. Returned balls from the catcher to the pitcher will be a dead ball.
