Job title:Individual Giving Officer (Maternity Cover)
Responsible to:Fundraising Manager
Main purpose:To take responsibility for maintaining and developing existing relationships with individual supporters and, together with the Fundraising Manager, to attract new donors to Sheffield Theatres’ giving schemes in order to achieve fundraising targets.
The post-holder will work with the Fundraising Manager and, where appropriate, with other members of the Fundraising Team to:
- Deliver excellent stewardship to special interest major donor groups (i.e. New Work Group and Classic Production Supporters) to maximise engagement and develop annual gifts.
- Maintain and progress a healthy donor prospect pipeline and identify appropriate events and opportunities to support making the ‘ask’.
- Implement and deliver Sheffield Theatres’ major donor strategy, engaging prospective and existing high level donors.
- Create and manage the diverse events programme to include major donor cultivation and bespoke events to promote quality stewardship and drive new donations.
- Play an instrumental role in the relaunch and delivery of a new Regular Giving scheme with a focuson the research and strategic cultivation of members and regular bookers.
- Ensure effective management of donor and prospect data to strengthen performance and inform the fundraising strategy.
- Write engaging, compelling and targeted fundraising copy for direct communications as well as online and print material; including season brochures and production programmes.
- Together with Fundraising Manager, lead on the delivery of Sheffield Theatres’ legacy campaign including managing communications, events and being the key liaison point for individuals.
- Work strategically with colleagues in the Fundraising Department to ensure consistent correspondence with donors and maximise cross fertilisation opportunities
- Maintain a strong awareness of other individual giving initiatives in the arts fundraising arena.
- Undertake other relevant team administrative tasks or any other task that may be reasonably requested by the Fundraising Manager or the Communications and Fundraising Director.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential:
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise, handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strategic thinking and decision making skills.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and a meticulous eye for detail.
- Naturally personable with good social skills and the confidence to talk to donors.
- Confident event manager and coordinator.
- A clear understanding of fundraising in the arts and charity sectors, with a particular interest in individual giving and an understanding of the steps of solicitation.
- Good working knowledge of computer systems including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Desirable:
- An interest in and empathy for theatre and the creative arts.
- Experience of working with a fundraising database (Spektrix).
- Experience of large scale event management.
- Knowledge of legacy fundraising.
MAIN TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Contract:This is a temporary post to cover maternity leave with a preferred start date of 4 December 2017. Although itis not possible to guarantee the exact term of the post, it is expected that employment will be between 9 months and a year.
Pay: £20,241.83per year.
Probation:Appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of 3 months’ probation.
Hours:Nominal weekly hours are 32 excluding meal breaks. In addition you will be required to work such hours as are needed to fulfil the requirements of the position for which time in lieu is given.
Holidays:Holiday entitlement is 5.8 weeks per year pro rata for the duration of the contract. This holiday entitlement includes Public Holidays.
Pension: During your probation you will be auto enrolled into The People’s Pension in accordance with statutory deadlines and contributions.
