December 14, 2011

Dear Parents,

The Christmas Music Program will be held on Friday afternoon, December 16th at 1:15PM. The band will play some holiday tunes under the direction of Mr. Ray DiVirgilio and each class will perform a holiday song or two under the direction of Mr. Bob Colligan. This will be an out-of-uniform day for students; they are asked to wear dressy Christmas clothes in red, green, or white. (No jeans or sweats please!) All are invited to attend; please join us as we celebrate the season!

Since it is getting so much colder outside, I would like to take this opportunity to remind parents that the students will go out for recess each day unless the weather is inclement. Please make sure that they are dressed appropriately with warm coats, gloves, scarves, and hats.

The Annual Giving Fund is continuing. Please remember to donate prior to December 31st to receive a tax deduction for 2011. All families are obligated to raise $100 in tax deductible contributions. Additional contributions made will be used to defray the cost of student’s book bill and then applied to the 2012-2013 tuition bills, here or at a Catholic high school.

Mrs. Pozzi and the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students have been working on a Gingerbread House for the contest taking place at local merchants during the Downtown Holiday Happenings. Our house (La Befana; an Italian farmhouse scene) will be displayed at Extreme Pizza located at 201 N. Market Street. Please stop by to vote for St. Anthony’s Gingerbread House as it will mean some recognition for our students as well as a monetary prize for the school. The deadline for voting is Saturday, December 17th. For more information, please visit www.downtownwilmington.com

Tomorrow is the absolute deadline to donate one non-perishable food item for the parish Christmas baskets going to those less fortunate. We are asking each grade level to bring in a certain item as follows:
PreK—boxes of macaroni and cheese
Kindergarten—jars of peanut butter
1st grade—boxes of stuffing
2nd grade—boxes of spaghetti
3rd grade—boxes of cereal
4th grade—canned vegetables
5th grade—canned tuna fish
6th grade—jars of spaghetti sauce
7th grade—canned fruit
8th grade—cans of soup
Thanks so much for your generosity!

The 2011 Holiday Gift Card Schedule is as follows: sales of stocked gift cards in school lobby on Friday, December 16th, and on Thursday, December 22nd. Friday, December 16th (by 10AM) WILL BE THE LAST DATE TO PLACE AN ONLINE ORDER BEFORE THE CHRISTMAS BREAK. PLEASE NOTE THERE WILL BE NO ONLINE ORDER PLACED ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 19. If you have any questions, please call Elaine Serpe at (302) 239-6038.

The lunch menu for January 2012 (beginning Monday, January 9th) is up on the website and being sent home today. Please return your order form and check before Christmas Break. Meet Your Student for Lunch will take place on Thursday, January 12th, for 1st grade and 7th grade. Order forms should be returned for parents attending by December 19th. We ask that you do not bring a fast food lunch but rather bring a bag lunch or order from the cafeteria.
