Lifestyle of the 1950s Poster

Honors Group Project (25 points)

There should be 2 to 3 students per group. You may pick any topic relating to the lifestyle of the 1950s as long as it has been approved. No group in the same class may pick the same topic. The following list are some possible topic ideas:

business & advertising beat movement

suburban lifestyle music (Rock ’n’ Roll)

leisure activitiesfads civil rights (African-Americans)

transportation (automobiles) key athletes & major sports events

inventions & technology fashion

television dances

movies art & literature

-pictures of examples (must have at least six; one must be

a video) (6 points)

-historical accuracy (3 points)

*6 points on appearance of poster

-creativity (3 points)

-appearance effort (3 points)

2. “live” example (5 total points)

You must have one “live” example of your topic. For example, for

fashion you could model a 1950s outfit; for music you could sing a

1950s rock’n’roll song; for TV or movies you could act out a scene.

It cannot be anything on the computer. Be creative!

You must choose 5 of the examples on your poster to write about. For each example you must explain the following:

-list at least 2 good sources at end of the paper (1 point)

You must explain your poster in detail and also explain the “live” example. You may use your paper to help you. Everyone in your group must speak during the presentation. If anyone in your group is absent on the day you are scheduled to present, your group still must present that day. Whoever is not there to present will lose 2 presentation points. I will try to be as flexible as possible with respect to both unexpected illness and absences that have been planned in advance, such as field trips.
