Course Overview:

New Mexico History is a one-semester class and required for graduation. This course will focus more on New Mexico in the 20th century. We will also look into issues from pre-statehood that impact and influence the present as well. In our course of study we will engage critical thinking skills and improve our writing, editing, and reading abilities. We will also explore other creative modes of learning through class discussion, illustrations, movies, documentaries, and presentations.

GRADING

  • The grading scale is as follows: : 100-90 = A, 89-80 = B, 79-70 = C, 69-60 = D, 59-0 = F
  • Major assessment, tests, papers, projects, etc ==60%, Minor Assessment, homework, classwork, etc =30%, Participation =10 %

Attendance:

  • Daily attendance is important for understanding the course material presented in class. Students who miss class are responsible for obtaining the missed information and or work. 10 or more absences total may result in an automatic F

Behavior:

  • Students are expected to follow the rules set forth in the code of conduct handbook, as well as the classroom agreements of respect, and responsibility.

I look forward to exploring, analyzing, and learning about New Mexico with all of you. While I am sure we will have some laughs along the way, it is important that we all take our education seriously.
