AHOUSE RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE DORIS WILSON ANTLEY OF BATESBURGLEESVILLE ON THE OCCASION OF HERSEVENTIETH BIRTHDAY AND TO WISH HER A JOYOUS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AND MUCH HAPPINESS IN THE YEARS AHEAD.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are delighted to learn that Doris Wilson Antley of BatesburgLeesvillewill celebrate herseventieth birthday on July 11, 2013; and
Whereas, born the daughter of Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Woodrow Wilson of the United States Army and Rebecca Burch Wilson, Doris Wilson Antley came into this world on July 11, 1943. She is the proud mother of Christopher Wilson Antley, Sr., and Burch Bedford Antley; motherinlaw of Marian Miller Antley; and grandmother of Christopher Wilson Antley, Jr., Owen Loadholt Antley, and Lillian Jeane Antley; and
Whereas, in preparation for her distinguished career in education, this graduate of BrooklandCayce High School earned her bachelor’s degree from Winthrop University, followed by a master’s degree in social work from the University of South Carolina. She retired in 2008 from Lexington County School District 3, where she began her teaching career in 1973; and
Whereas, during her long and fruitful years as an educator, she served Lexington County School District 3 as district attendance and guidance coordinator, BatesburgLeesville High School and BatesburgLeesville Elementary School as a special education teacher, Lexington County District 3 Adult Education as a GED instructor, and BatesburgLeesville High School as a guidance counselor. In 2008, she was the recipient of the South CarolinaDepartment of Education’s Adult Education Hall of Fame Award; and
Whereas, because she believes in active participation in her community, Doris Wilson Antley serves her fellow citizens in various ways. Since her retirement, she has continued to serve as a daily administrative volunteer at BatesburgLeesville High School. A resident of BatesburgLeesville since 1973 and an outstanding and respected member of the community, she was a member of the Lexington County Election Commission for twenty years. In addition, as a woman of faith she is a dedicated member of Wittenberg Lutheran Church in BatesburgLeesville, where she helps to operate the church’s food pantry and Vacation BibleSchool; and
Whereas, the House of Representativesis proud to honor this truly lovely South Carolina lady at the celebration of herseventieth birthday, and the members join with her family and friends in congratulating her on reaching this important life milestone. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Doris Wilson Antley of BatesburgLeesville on the occasion of herseventieth birthday and wish her a joyous birthday celebration and much happiness in the years ahead.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Doris Wilson Antley.
