OCC NURSING STUDENT AWARDED
RALPH R. WHITNEY, JR. SCHOLARSHIP
SYRACUSE, NY – Onondaga Community College student Joseph W. Dwyer of Liverpool was recently awarded the Ralph R. Whitney, Jr. Trustee Scholarship in the amount of $1,000. The award was presented at a recent meeting of the Board of Trustees by Vice Chair Connie Moneteleone Whitton. Dwyer is completing his third level of the nursing program and is a nursing assistant at University Hospital.
The Ralph R. Whitney, Jr. Scholarship was established in 1981 as part of the annual Onondaga Community College Trustee Recognition Awards to honor outstanding members. Officers of the College’s Board of Trustees, in consultation with OCC President Debbie L. Sydow, Ph.D., select one faculty member to receive the Ralph R. Whitney, Jr. Award. The chosen faculty member for 2007 is Onondaga Professor and nursing department chair Pamela Ryan. As this year’s recipient, Professor Ryan selected Joseph W. Dwyer as the student recipient of the Ralph R. Whitney, Jr. Scholarship.
