Walter Sisulu University is a multi-campus, comprehensive university, with its seat at its Nelson Mandela Drive campus in Mthatha. The university has four campuses in Mthatha, Butterworth, Buffalo City and Queenstown, which are headed by Campus Rectors.
The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) has introduced the ‘New Generation of Academics Programme’ (nGAP) that is aimed at supporting the identification and nurturing of young academics by Universities. Universities will do this by recruiting young and aspiring academics with Bachelors or Master’s degree into their study programmes and the successful applicants will be required to register for and complete higher degrees (Masters or PhD) within the first six years of their employment. During the six-year period the successful applicant will be supported in the development of their research and teaching expertise by means of the nGAP programme.
FACULTY OF SCIENCE, ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY
LECTURER: ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING– BUFFALO CITY CAMPUS
Qualifications:
· BSc/BEng in Electrical Engineering
OR
· MSc/MEng in Electrical Engineering specialising in Power Electronics and Control Systems
Experience:
· 1 year of lecturing/tutoring experience is required
Requirements
· Applicants must be 35 years or younger.
· The successful applicant MUST be committed to registering for a higher degree on appointment.
nGAP LECTURER: WATER ENGINEERING– BUTTERWORTH CAMPUS
Qualifications:
· BSc/BEng in Civil Engineering
OR
· Masters in Civil Engineering
· Professionally registration will be an added advantage or candidates must be eligible to be registered with ECSA.
Experience:
· Three years lecturing experience in a higher education
· Four years industry experience.
· Candidates must have hydraulics and water & waste water treatment design experience.
Key Performance Areas:
· Offer tuition, tutoring/mentoring and community engagement to students on Courses in National Diploma and Advanced Diploma
· Assisting the administrative functions of the Department in its drive for ECSA re-accreditation.
· Research within one of the specialities in the field of water engineering.
· Attendance of developmental workshops for teaching and learning.
· Participation in all components and activities of the nGAP programmes for the duration of the contract.
· Completion of a Masters/Doctoral degree in the relevant field of specialisation during the first three/six years of employment as an nGAP lecturer.
Skills and Competencies:
· Ability to work independently
· Computer Literacy
· Familiar with Engineering Software, e.g. Civil Designer, AutoCAD 3D etc and Microsoft Office Softwares.

ACCOUNTING LECTURER/JUNIOR LECTURER– UMTHATHA CAMPUS: NELSON MANDELA DRIVE
Qualifications
· A relevant (Financial Accounting, Taxation, Management Accounting & Financial Management and Taxation) Post graduate, Honours, or Master’s Degree.
Experience:
· Prior teaching and tutoring experience will be an advantage
· Good academic track record
· Practical business experience will be an added advantage

Key Performance Areas:
· Teaching and tutoring in the Department of Accounting.
· Performing all the related administrative duties associated with the programme.
· Assisting the Department in its drive towards SAICA re-accreditation.
· Research within one of the specialities in the field of accounting
· Community involvement
Skills and Competencies:
· Excellent presentation skills.
· Demonstrate a broad and thorough understanding of the subject area of accounting with specialisation in Financial Reporting, Taxation, Auditing Management Accounting/Finance.
· Good interpersonal skills
· Ability to work in a team and to take the initiative where required.
