JobPurpose

Toberesponsible forthedesign and deliveryofsupport within a specifictechnicalarea(s) requiring ahighlyadvancedlevelof knowledge,the promotion andobservance ofahealthyand safe workingenvironment forthetechnical supportservice,offering professional guidance assistance andsupport topupils& teachersonthepracticalaspectsofthecurriculum.

PrincipalAccountabilities

  • to take a lead role in developing, implementing and supporting the multi-media and Apple systems in the academy, with specific technical responsibility for the Academy Web
  • to manage the day to day workload of the Network Support Team
  • to train and develop the Network Support Team and other staff in use of relevant Multi-Media and Apple technologies including in class support where necessary
  • to manage projects to develop the use of Multi-Media and Apple systemsin the academy, liaising with third parties to specify equipment and ensuring best value when negotiating prices for goods and services
  • to undertake tasks related to pro-active management / support of the academy network and its users
  • to ensure academy asset and PAT systems are up to date
  • to carry out Risk Assessments for Network Support team activities
  • to be a proactive member of the Network Support team, keeping up to date with new technology and own personal development to fulfil the needs of the post
  • carry out other duties that are commensurate with the grading and level of responsibility of the job
  • to support the Network team as part of the iPad project and to lead liaison with 3rd party support company (currently JTRS) on the management, deployment and maintenance of the academy’s iPad and other Apple devices.

The fluid nature of the development of the Academy will mean that changes are inevitable. The duties will be reviewed annually as part of the Performance Management Review.

Person Specification:Principal Specialist Network Support Technician – multi-media

ESSENTIAL

Qualification/Training/Competences / NVQ 4 or equivalent or experience in relevant discipline
Excellent numeracy/literacy skills / Specific training in the specialist area
Relevant Experience / Several years experience working in a relevant discipline
Experience of the design and management of websites
Experience of the management and support of Multimedia systems
Experience of Apple Systems / Experience in an educational environment
Experience of VOD systems
Knowledge / Effective use of ICT to support learning Skills
Use of complex specialist equipment and
resources
Full working knowledge of relevant policies and codes of practice and legislation
Skills / Ability to self-evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities
Ability to relate well to children and adults
Special Circumstances / Occasional attendance at meetings outside normal hours
