Created in 2004 to Recognize and Honor Deserving Community-Minded Students

The Fayette County Community Service Scholarship Program was created in 2004 and has rewarded over 100 students withapproximately $50,000 in scholarships.

Each of the seven Fayette County High Schools is encouraged to have deserving senior students apply for this scholarship, which helps students with the cost of higher education. Our committee trustees have raised the funds for this program, and we will forward the names of our awardees to the Foundation for their approval.

Qualifiedsenior students can apply by downloading and completing an applicationon the CFFC website at and all applications must be sent to the Community Foundation of Fayette County. If you have any questions regarding this process, please call the Foundation at 724-437-8600 or e-mail Renee Couser at .

*Applicant must be a U.S. citizen residing in Fayette County and attending a Fayette County High School.

*Applicant must be a senior and mustsubmit a letter from the guidance office stating that the applicant

is in good standing at his/her school and has a cumulative 3.25 GPA or better.

*Applicant must submit a community service “resume” for the last three years (grades 10-12).

*Applicant must submit an essay of up to 750 words, “Why I am Involved in Community Service.”

*Applicant may choose to have letters of support submitted from organizations for which the applicant

volunteers.

*Applications must be postmarked by March 24, 2017.

The Fayette County Community Service Scholarship Trustees will select up to five students (no more than one from any school), andfor the first time, the scholarships have been doubled to $1000. Plus; all awardees may have an opportunity to receive an additional $1000 matching grant coordinated by the Foundation if certain conditions are met. Also, our trusteeswill selecta captain from the group, who will receive an additional $100. Please note that the scholarship awards must be sent directly to the awardees’institutions of higher learning, and awardees are fully responsible to contact the Foundation with completemailing information for their higher ed.
