Discussion:

K. Visser summarized the work of the Branding Creative Committee. She encouraged discussion of the structure and organization of the website, believing these discussions will align themselves with the work of the Branding Committee on down the road.

In review of the work of the Branding Committee, K. Visser reported:

The positioning of the different entities of the institution is being considered.

Currently, K. Visser is serving as the liaison between the two committees.

Electronic and social networking is under significant consideration by the Branding Committee.

The Council then identified certain principles or guidelines that it felt important to the success of the website:

  1. It is important for each of the institutional entities to retain individuality and functionality.
  2. A commitment must be made to social networking but within defined parameters.
  3. Content must be managed on a departmental level.
  4. Careful selection of content managers is important and training needs to be provided.
  5. The structure of the website must appeal to two major student segments: It must provide marketing appeal and information to recruits/prospects and also information to currently enrolled students.
  6. Specific audiences should be identified and identifiable on the website.
  7. The website should retain individuality but commonality so everything doesn’t look the same, but does belong to a recognizable whole.
  8. Change, modification, revisions to retain accuracy and vitality must be easy to do, and done often.

M. McCall will identify a student(s) for the Web Council and invite them on for the next meeting. Others are invited to submit names of students as well.

T. Wrench, from the Branding Committee, will be invited to attend the next meeting by K. Visser.

The next meeting will be held after theannouncement of the Branding Committee’s work.
