CLINICAL EXPERIENCES
The Department of Medicine at King Abdulaziz University Hospital (KAUH), Jeddah is very busy with cases covering the whole spectrum of Internal Medicine.
Generally, my strong medical foundation both in theory and practice were obtained at KAUH where I started as an Intern, Resident, Registrar and Senior Registrar under the supervision of highly qualified and dedicated clinicians and professors. During those years, my trainings involved acute and non-acute medical cases, in various subspecialties and ICU patients. Eventually, I obtained my post-graduate degree and was promoted to Consultant in Internal Medicine in 1995.
Since I developed a keen interest in Endocrinology, I focused and concentrated my attention in this field and am now currently looking after Endocrinology and General Medicine patients. I supervised the work in the Diabetic Centre at KingFahdMilitaryHospital, the population of which
is more than 6,000 patients. Moreover, my clinic at the KingAbdulazizUniversityHospital is mainly on endocrine cases plus diabetes. From July 1966 till Jun 1999.
Regularly attended the international endocrine meetings.
Aside from this position, I also have a private clinic which also deals mainly with patients having endocrine problems and disorders.
Just recently in December 2003, the commemoration of the International Diabetic Day was successfully conducted at the King Fahd Research Centre, King Abdulaziz University Complex, Jeddah under my direct supervision.
TEACHING EXPERIENCES
Since 1990, I have been fully involved in the teaching of undergraduate students, both theoretically and clinically. I am also regularly taking part in the organization of the final examinations involving both the written and clinical parts. I am a regular examiner during the year-end final clinical exams for all levels of the undergraduate students.
Shortly after obtaining my post graduate degree, I got actively involved in the supervision and teaching of the post-graduate students as well. I have been the Coordinator of postgraduate teaching in KAUH for three years, 1992 until 1995, and for one year, 1996-1997, at KingFahdMilitaryHospital. This involved the scheduling of the teaching programme for the trainees, monitoring their progress and counseling and advising them.
