JOB TITLE : Revenue Clerk

1JOB PURPOSE

1.1The control and operation of a weigh bridge in accordance with The Working Plan, The Site Licence, EN ISO9002/ISO14001 and the Company’s Policies and Procedures.

2PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

2.1 Assist in the monitoring of incoming waste to determine waste types and quantities to ensure conformity to Site Licence.

2.2To support the separation and securing of hazardous and special waste types to ensure conformity to Site Licence.

2.3 Ensure all site vehicle movements are weighed and correctly coded to produce statistical information for use in internal reports.

2.4 Control of all site traffic to provide safe and efficient site use.

2.5 Advise and assist site users and visitors, to best achieve their requirements, to inform of other sites and services, to maximise recycling initiatives, to provide safe and efficient site use and portray the best corporate image.

2.6 Keep records in site log and associated documentation, to ensure conformity to Site Licence, EN ISO9002/ISO14001, duty of care obligations carriers registration, Company administration needs, including the updating of trade waste database.

2.7 Liaise and request goods and services, to ensure smooth, efficient and timely operation of the weigh bridge and to ensure conformity to the Site Licence.

2.8 Responsible for securing of the weigh bridge and associated assets, including banking cash as instructed.

2.9To provide public weighing facilities and supporting legal documentation.

3 DIMENSIONS

3.1Reception, Storage and Dispatch of waste and recyclables.

3.2Liaise with the public, client representatives and regulators, ensuring duty of care documentation is completed.

3.3Operate plant and machinery.

3.4Act independently seeking support and guidance from Supervisionand

Management as necessary.

3.5Deal with traffic movement.

3.6Deal with cash and cheques averaging £50,000 per annum.

3.7Carry out duties in accordance with the Working Plan and Company Policies

and Procedures.

4.1.2Independent decisions regarding implementation of laid down Emergency Procedures.

•Environment Agency Officers -on random visits to demonstrate conformity to Site Licence and Duty of Care Regulations.

•Client Contract Monitors -on random visits to demonstrate conformity to client contract.

•Transport Services -on a daily basis to ensure efficient reception and dispatch of refuse.

•Repair and Maintenance - as required to assist in the

Services upkeep of the site and

equipment.

4.3MAJOR CHALLENGES

4.3.1Dealing with difficult members of public; particularly suspected traders.

4.3.2Compliance with Duty of Care, Site Licence and Company Policies and

Procedures.

4.4.1 Dealing with suspected traders and ensuring customer compliance with

Site rules.

4.5KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, EXPERIENCE

4.5.1Communication skills, the need to respond to and give oral advice and

direction, to communicate with members of the public, traders and

regulators.

4.5.2Use of assertiveness training techniques to deal effectively with difficult

situationsinvolving members of the public/traders.

4.5.3Dealing with computer system.

4.5.4Basic literacy, numeracy and clerical skills.

4.5.5Knowledge of Site Licences, Working Plans, Emergency Procedures,

the Company’s Policies and Procedures and Duty of Care Regulations.

4.5.6As a normal part of work content, to plan and progress a series of jobs

within general guidelines and to make frequent decisions involving the

use of initiative and judgement without access to seniors.
