REGULATIONS FOR THE POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMME

IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

(for candidates entering in October 2005 to September 2009)

These Programme Regulations are to be read in conjunction with Regulation XXI.

1.STRUCTURE

1.1The Programme is the responsibility of the BusinessSchool. There will be appointed a programme director.

1.2Entrance Requirements are those referred to in regulation XXI.

1.3The Programme leads to the award of MBA, MBA with Distinction, Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip), PGDip with Distinction, Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) or PGCert with Distinction.

1.4The Programme is normally offered on a part-time basis commencing in October and February of each Academic Session.

The normal period of study for the award of PGCert is twelve calendar months.

The normalperiod of study for the award of PGDip or MBA is twenty-four calendar months.

1.5With the permission of the MBA Director, 60 credits may be obtained towards the award of MBA on the basis of successful completion of all modules of the following Loughborough qualifications at an appropriately high level of achievement. When credit is awarded to candidates under this provision, it will normally replace that awarded for modules that most closely correspond with the prior study, as defined by the MBA Director.

1.6All candidates who have obtained the Engineering Management Partnership Postgraduate Certificate are granted 60 credits towards the award of MBA. The modules for which credit is awarded are:

#Candidates are permitted to attend the European Summer School for Advanced Management and sit the formal assessment set by LoughboroughUniversity.

3.PROJECT REPORT

The project will be undertaken in agreement with, and with guidance from, the project supervisor appointed by the BusinessSchool. The project report must be submitted by the final Friday in September in the same year in which the research project commenced.

The contents of the project report may only be disclosed to persons outside the University with the written permission of the MBA Director.

4.ASSESSMENT

4.1Each module in the Programme will be assessed, and credit will be awarded, in accordance with the levels of achievement specified in regulation XXI.

4.2In accordance with regulation XXI, but with the exclusion of module BSP126 Project, candidates who have a right of re-assessment in a module may choose to be re-assessed in the University's special assessment period.

5.AWARDS:SPECIFIC PROGRAMME PROVISIONS

5.1To be eligible for the award of PGCert, PGDip or MBA, candidates must have met the requirements specified in regulation XXI.

5.2To be eligible for the award of distinction in the MBA, PGDip or PGCert candidates must have met the requirements specified in regulation XXI.

5.3To be eligible for the award of MBA candidates must have achieved credit in BSP126.

5.4The Business School reserves the right to offer or to withdraw any module.
