The Medical College of WisconsinCancer Center seeks an Associate Director of Administration

The MCW Cancer Center isan integrated partnership comprised of more than 200 cancer research scientists and physicians at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Froedert Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Clement Zablocki VA Medical Center and the Blood Center of Wisconsin. Established in 1998, the Cancer Center is the only academic cancer center in Wisconsin’s most populous region, and is housed in a free-standing building on the MCW campus. MCW is the area’s leading provider of cancer services with 39% of the market share. An AACI member, the center has embarked on an exciting initiative to become NCI-designated. The new Cancer Center Associate Director of Administration will play a key role in this endeavor.

The Cancer Center Associate Director of Administrationwill manage the administrative, financial and regulatory infrastructure of the successful operation of the center, paving the way for growth and quality improvement in all four missions: education, patient care, research and community engagement. The Associate Directorof Administration manages the day-to-day business operations and supports the business cycle, including forecasting, strategic planning for growth, grant administration and maximizes reimbursement and revenue streams. Reporting to the Director of the Center, Ming You, MD, the Associate Director of Administration has a dotted line relationship to Allen Bolton, Executive VP COO of the Medical College of Wisconsin. The position manages6 direct reports, 51 FTEs and a research budget of approximately $30M.

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned healthcare professional with strong business acumen and interpersonal skills who can lead ongoing growth efforts of the Cancer Center and serve as an advisor to the Director. A bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field from an accredited institution is required; a master’s degree strongly preferred. At least eight years of professional management experience, including experience in an academic environment is required. Successful candidates will have a track record of management responsibilities and demonstrated leadership within a cancer center that is NCI-designated or pursuing designation. Strong organizational skills, fiscal acumen and grant-writing skills are a must. To be successful, the candidate must have collaborative, persuasive qualities with the ability to work in a highly matrixed organization.
