JOB PURPOSE Working as a member of SafeNet’s Management Team, leading work to raise funds to support SafeNet’s existing services and growth aspirations.

OVERALL AIMS AND PARTICULAR TASKS OF THE POSTHOLDER

Overall Aims

To lead the development and implement of SafeNet’s funding strategy, review outcomes regularly and co-ordinate activities with the management and wider team.

To raise funds and secure resources, maximizing income through statutory means and funding through grant making bodies; corporate, voluntary and charitable opportunities, and a variety of fundraising activities.

Main responsibilities

1.  Establish and co-ordinate SafeNet’s funding and resource strategy in order to maximise income from statutory, voluntary, corporate, trusts, grant giving sources and private donations.

2.  Set targets of income from major sources and develop an annual timetable for applications to key sources, making recommendations regarding the optimum time to approach trust, lottery and statutory sources, ensuring timely application and a long-term approach to gaining necessary funds.

3.  Be familiar with and understand SafeNet’s current funding framework and existing funding streams, and also build excellent working relationships with key commissioners and funding contacts to ensure we retain existing contracts and funding, and where possible, increase income through those existing sources.

4.  Identifying and engage with new, diverse fundraising opportunities to support existing services and establish new services.

5.  Work closely with Finance and Administration staff to gather and co-ordinate all necessary financial information from budgets, business plans, funding strategies etc. and any other requirements for each application

6.  Collate relevant information and ensure that high quality applications are submitted within funding deadlines, whilst ensuring maximum recovery of core costs with each application, including as many core organisational costs as acceptable to the funder

7.  Manage, prepare, draft and submit fully costed funding applications, including writing any project and business plans required

8.  Be familiar with key funders application, monitoring and evaluation processes, and ensure that each application made meets the relevant criteria for funding and the successful applications are properly monitored, reported and evaluated.

9.  Create and implement individually tailored communication arrangements for each funding body, particularly ensuring that each body’s funding criteria are understood and that their reporting requirements are met.

10.  Represent SafeNet at fundraising events as required by the Charity Manager and lead/contribute to meetings with funders and other stakeholders.

11.  Keep up-to-date with relevant developments both externally in fundraising and the broader charity world, and internally with developments in the work of Safenet and its partners.

12.  Co-ordinate the work of staff, students and volunteers assisting in fundraising tasks.

13.  Develop and maintain a database of funders.

14.  Write reports to internal and external stakeholders as and when required.

15.  Carry out all necessary administrative duties and maintain all paper and electronic records, on time and efficiently.

16.  Contribute in the overall development of SafeNet services within its ethos, aims and objectives, policies and procedures.

17.  Undertake any other tasks or duties within the scope of the post as required by the Charity Manager.

20.  Attend appropriate training courses, workshops or other events within the resources of SafeNet when requested to do so by the Charity Manager.
