Book Week – Please see the message below from Mrs Wood

What a Wonderful World Book Week we had:-

The lion the witch and the wardrobe, a BFG, Dennis the menace, Goldilocks and her three bears, Ella from the longest Whale song, Opal Plumstead and the Demon Headmaster all came to our school this week both children and staff looked fantastic. Plus we raised a massive £188 for Book Aid International helping children around the world to enjoy books as we do.

During the day children had the chance to share their own books with their class and reception children had a chance to share a story with their parents and carers.

The following day Ali Sparkes came into school to inspire all of our budding authors. We were ‘Thunderstruck’ by her workshop and it produced some amazing creative writing. Thank you as always to the PTA who funds these for the children.

The Book Fair was a huge success and a big thank you to all. We took just under £1800 over the two days. This has given us an amazing £995 to spend on books for the next year!

We definitely did something Booky!

Mrs Griffiths’ Maths Group on Monday and Tuesday

Please note this will finish at 4.00pm not 4.15pm.

Y5 Bikeability

The children who are in groups one and two will need their bikes in school for four days the week after Easter (Tues, Wed, Thurs and Fri). I apologise for the number of letters about Bikeability. Your child will not be able to take part if the final letter with your consent signature is not back in school, if they don’t have a helmet or a roadworthy bike. Please make sure that the bikes are propped up against the YR fence and that they are not ridden across the field or through the playground.

Easter Service

If any parents wish to attend the Easter Service at St Mary’s on Monday 27th March 2017, we are anticipating that the service will begin at 9.45 am and last about 45 minutes.

Coffee Morning

A reminder that the Children’s Society Coffee Morning run by Amanda Maker is on Monday 27th March. Please drop in between 9 and 11am.

Yours sincerely

Clare Griffiths

If a club has to be cancelled, we do our best to notify the children in advance. If this has not been possible, we will look after the children at school until the time the club should have finished.

Sometimes, outdoor clubs have to be cancelled on the afternoon they are due to take place because of bad weather. It would be helpful to let your child know in the morning what they should do if this has to happen; you may wish to tell them to come home in the usual way. If there is no other arrangement, we will keep the children in school until the time the club would have ended.

Yours sincerely,

Clare Griffiths
