Bridging London Project Internship - Croydon

General Role Description

  1. To work with the Croydon Project Coordinator, Croydon Project Worker, other volunteers and young people to run a support and activity project for young refugees and asylum seekers in the London Borough of Croydon.
  1. To assist the Croydon Project Coordinator to plan, prepare for and facilitate amonthly girls group, a weekly Boys group and youth group, and monthly Saturday trips.
  1. To work with the Croydon Project Coordinator to contribute to monitoring and evaluating the outcomes of the Bridging London Project
  1. To assist the Croydon Project Coordinator with a range of office and administration tasks as agreed
  1. To attend project planning, team and debrief meetings as agreed with project staff
  1. To work with young people to plan and facilitate activities, such as sports, cooking, or outings.
  1. To take part in setting up activities at start of sessions.
  1. To take part in clearing up and evaluating activities after sessions end.
  1. To report any problems, accidents or concerns to project staff
  1. To read, understand and agree to Young Roots child protection/safeguarding policy.
  1. To attend and take part in training as agreed with your manager.
  1. To attend and take part in supervision meetings with your manager every month
  1. To inform project staff immediately if you are unable to attend one or more session or if you will be late.

  • Understanding of child protection/safeguarding issues
  • Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check
  • Willingness to volunteer part-time for3-6 months
  • Interest in working with young people aged 11-21 years old

Desirable

  • Experience of working with refugees and asylum seekers
  • Experience of working with young people
  • Ability to speak refugee community language(s)
  • Educated to degree level

CROYDON PROJECT INTERN*

An intern is required for 2 days per week:

  • Thursdays 11am-7pm (weekly)
  • Wednesdays 9am-5pm (2 per month)
  • Saturdays 9am-5pm (2 per month)
