The front page has to have (1) a title for the newspaper, (2) a headlining story (3-4 paragraphs) about a major event in your book, (3) a shorter feature story (2 paragraphs) about one of the characters in the book, and (4) one picture to go with either the headline or the character feature.
- Character Diary/Journal:Put yourself into the mind of one of the primary characters in the book. Use three pieces of paper to create (1) a cover for the diary inspired by the character’s personality/actions in the story, (2) a diary entry that is at least 3 paragraphs long and describes one of the major events or points of conflict in the story from that character’s point of view and how it made him/her feel, and (3) a poem or illustration that shows how the character felt about any other character in the book.
- Novel Soundtrack: Design a CD cover (front, back, and insides) that is 8" x 8". The back cover should list the soundtrack for the novel (title and artist) that includes at least 10 well-known songs. On the inside, write at least three sentences (per song) explaining how it relates to the story events or character(s). The look of the front cover is up to you!
We will have some class time to read and work on the projects. As always, Wednesdays will be devoted to independent reading. Make sure you are bringing your book and materials to class EVERYDAY. To insure success, you must work on these at home as well as in class. These projects will be on Edmodo so we can have open lines of communication at all times.
