REMADE IN EDINBURGH PROGRAMME MANAGER

£30,000 p.a. pro rata

0.8 FTE

Fixed term until 31st March 2017

Remade in Edinburgh is looking for someone who shares our strong values and vision and will take a strategic leadership role to shape a new ground-breaking project for Edinburgh.

The Edinburgh REMAKERY is a ground-breaking pilot project to create a consumer-focused reuse and repair centre in partnership with the Edinburgh Furniture Initiative and with support from City of Edinburgh Council and the University of Edinburgh.

This centre will provide an enhanced and integrated retail experience to the customer where they can:

-  Learn to fix textiles, computers and mobile phones, and furniture.

-  Buy refurbished computers

-  Buy reused furniture

-  Donate broken / second hand technology, furniture, and textiles

We are now seeking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to oversee the running of Remade and development of the Remakery.

Skills Base:

Business Skills. General business management knowledge and experience including: business planning and development, funding, priority setting, target setting, monitoring, cashflow management, budget setting and monitoring, report production (e.g. annual reports), understanding of accounts, employment matters, staff supervision and strong interpersonal and negotiating skills

Beneficial: Knowledge of and interest in reuse and repair / wider environmental and sustainability issues

Job Description

  1. Undertake the project management activities of deploying Zero Waste Scotland support into the Remakery project
  1. Ensure that all spend and project operation is in line with projections

a)  Development and implementation of business plans (under the

guidance of the board)

b)  Negotiation/liaison with funders on the development of the project

c)  Respond to challenges and devise strategies to overcome them

d)  Steer the project towards profitability without compromising broader

aims and objectives

  1. Gather evidence and data on the performance of the project and ensure reporting templates are completed

a)  Production of relevant reports and plans in-line with funding priorities, including reporting on the business,

financial and human resourcing aspects of the company

  1. Engage and inform Zero Waste Scotland at monthly, quarterly and other meetings
  1. Engage with wider community, press and social media

a)  Develop and implement a marketing strategy

b)  Actively promote and publicise the projects and their activities

c)  Raise profile of the projects and build a strong reputation

d)  Work towards mainstreaming of repair and reuse by engaging a wide cross-section of the community

  1. Prepare briefings, marketing and other materials
  1. Ensure project is being undertaken in line with project agreements

a)  Oversee the evaluation and monitoring reporting

b)  Manage the partnership agreement to ensure it’s working effectively

  1. Line management and supervision of Centre Manager, Remade coordinator and management of external consultants

a)  Supervision and support to enable the Centre Manager and Coordinator to work effectively

b)  Set and monitor targets

  1. Implement / oversee the existing strategy for securing and increasing donations of stock

Aim

·  To increase community engagement around reuse and repair in Edinburgh

·  To create a successful project that can be replicated in other places in Scotland and throughout the UK

Objectives

·  To support the development and delivery of appropriate services and activities in response to community need.

·  To work in collaboration with key agencies and develop partnerships and networks to support the main objectives of the project

·  To implement the approved business plan so that the Remakery achieves projections to become economically viable at the end of the funded period (March 2017).

Outputs

·  Maintaining and increasing the supply of donations from partner organisations.

·  Maintaining and develop strong working relationships with funders and external agencies.

·  Maintaining and develop strong working relationships with commissioning organisations

·  Supporting the centre manager to do an effective job including setting targets

·  Ensuring that income targets are met

·  Overseeing all reporting and evaluation

·  Managing external consultants
