FUNDRAISING MANAGER

Job Description

Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice provides respite, palliative and end of life care to babies and infants up to the age of 5 suffering from life-threatening/life-limiting conditions. This care and support is provided free to all families accessing our facilities.

Hours: 35 hours per week, some flexibility needed.

Based at: Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice, Easter Way, Ash Green, Coventry, CV7 9JG

Responsible to: The Executive Trustee.

Responsible for: Managing Fund Raising Team and the generation of income for the Hospice.

Job Summary

To:

  • Manage fundraising team.
  • Identify fundraising opportunities and raise awareness of the organisations work.
  • Develop contacts with local companies, organisations and general public
  • Develop a wide range of income streams to meet expenditure targets for running hospice.
  • Arrange fundraising events, generate income and create new fundraising and donation opportunities for Zoë’s Place
  • Liaise with local media organisations to promote Zoe’s Place.
  • Develop Social Media to promote Zoe’s Place
  • Follow Zoë’s Place Trust’s policies and procedures and comply with Charity Commission regulations.
  • Adhere to I.O.F. and Fundraising Regulator code of practices.
  • Represent Zoë’s Place at external events

Main responsibilities:

To:

  • Attain a target income for the Hospice from fundraising events/challenges and donations.
  • Prepare and monitor income budgets for the Hospice
  • Ensure event income/expenditure ratio remains within guidelines as set out in budget.
  • Develop and secure new sources of income from Major Donors, Corporate contacts/supporters.
  • Represent Zoë’s Place at external events, fundraising events, give talks, presentations and speeches of thanks to Groups/Organisations when required.
  • Devise and organise fundraising campaigns and events.
  • Manage and organise the fund raising department to ensure best use of resources including volunteers.
  • Ensure risk assessments for events and staff are carried out
  • Carry out income and expenditure assessments for events prior to authorising such events.
  • Ensure all printed matter adheres to Trust, IOFand Fundraising Regulator requirements.
  • Ensure maximum revenue by use of Gift Aid on donations.
  • Promote within the Corporate sector, Give as you Earn, regular giving, payroll giving.
  • Ensure all Trust policies and procedures are followed.
  • Ensure licences are obtained for street collections and other such events prior to these taking place.
  • Carry out /oversee the recruitment, selection and retention of Fundraising staff and volunteers
  • Management of staff in line with the Staff policies and procedures.
  • Monitor staff sickness for non clinical staff
  • Oversee the location of Zoë’s Place collecting boxes and ensure the location of these boxes are recorded correctly.
  • Ensure website is updated as necessary
  • Manage information and record the profile, fundraising activity of donors on to the Donorflex database.
  • Supervise the production of the Newsletter “Smile” on a regular basis
  • Carry out any other duties as requested by the Trustees.
  • Ensure all donors are treated with respect and thanked for their support
  • Hold regular team meetings.
  • Liaise with Head of Care on an on-going basis with regard to staff, HR issues, policies and procedures and general fundraising items.

Experience:

  • Have at least 2 years experience as a senior manager in a fundraising team with responsibility for leading, motivating, directing and monitoring the daily activities of others and facilitating development in their careers.
  • Demonstrate experience in dealing with complex issues.
  • Experience of managing a budget
  • Evidence of regularly continuing professional development in relevant fields.

  • Excellent organisation and management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively – orally and in writing – at all levels.
  • Excellent negotiation and delegation skills with the ability to get the best from others.
  • An ability to work well with volunteers and people from all walks of life.
  • Good report writing skills
  • IT literate, including the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiar with all aspects of social media
  • Knowledge of Donorflex system would be an advantage.
  • Ability to present to large and strategic groups.
  • Ability to view problems objectively and to find solutions.
