Dr. Constance E. Barrett,Assistant Artistic Director, has performed with an eclectic variety of musicians in all kinds of genres from her performances on national network TV with Prairie Home Companion’s resident violinist Andy Stein to her work with World Music of Nana. Called “a musician of rare sensitivity” by the Republique of Seine et Marne, France, she has performed at Jacob’s Pillow, Brooklyn Academy of Music, and at the Berkshire Jazz Festival as well as appearing on pop duo Shimmerplanet’s debut album, where her playing was cited in the press as “haunting” and “beautiful.”
Phoenix Quartet –includes violinists Gabriel Bolkosky, Alcia Doudna, violist Rebecca Albers, and cellist Mary Ann Ramos. Members of the ensemble are passionate performers and teachers, having studied with string quartets including the Guarneri, Cavani, Takacs, Julliard, Cleveland, St. Lawrence and artists including Itzhak Perlman, Richard Goode. The ensemble, based in Ann Arbor, MI, presents Phoenix Phest!each summer to na-tional acclaim.
Annie Fullard – Annie is the first violinist of the prestigious Cavani String Quartet based at the Cleveland Institute of Music. Annie is the director of chamber music at Case Western Reserve University, and toured with CMC during Mozart Anniversary Tour as guest artist and soloist. We welcome back Annie this season, as performer and master teacher. Annie will be in residence during the festival week.
Faculty
Deborah Barrett Price, Artistic Director
Serves as the viola faculty at Denison University, acts as principal violist of the Columbus Bach Ensemble, and co-conducts the Cleveland Institute of Music Youth String Camerata. She has been recognized as the Columbus Symphony Orchestra’s Community Music Educator of the Year and received commendations from the Ohio Senate and House of Representatives for excellence in teaching.
CMC’s faculty comprises many of the area’s best professional chamber and orchestral musicians and music educators. CMC’s coaching staff includes members of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and ProMusica Chamber Orchestra; and professors from the Ohio Wesleyan, Ohio, Ohio State, Capital and Denison Universities, and Otterbein College. Jazz Improvisation & Theory Institute

Jazz and improvisation workshops for students of all levels, college students, and teachers. Coordinated by Bradley Sowash and featuring guest artist violinist/violist Daryl Silberman. Tuition: $125.
“Evenings of Chamber Music” for Adults
Sunday, July 12 – Wednesday, July 15
7:00 – 9:00 pm
Designed strictly for adults, each evening consists of two sessions of coachings and rehearsals. Individual participants will be assigned to an ensemble; pre-formed groups may also register. For an additional fee, registrants may opt to participate in Festival Week activities. Tuition: $140.

About the Program

The purpose of The Chamber Music Connection is to provide chamber music education for music students of all ages (including adults) and abilities, from the earliest levels of proficiency to the most advanced.
Open to all string, wind, and piano students, participants are afforded the opportunity to hear, see, and work with world-class chamber music ensembles in concerts, master classes, and workshops. Programs are primarily geared to the study of string chamber music repertoire, but they also include collaboration of strings with winds and piano.
Based on their prior experience in chamber music and their age and skill level, participants are placed in small ensembles, allowing for an intimate learning experience. One player on a part encourages individual growth in both reading and musical abilities.

Honors Program for Advanced Students
Monday, July 6 – Friday, July 10
1:00 – 5:00pm
Open to advanced students who demonstrate a high level of musicianship and technical skills. A limited number of students will be accepted to participate in small ensemble coachings, guest artist workshops, chamber orchestra sessions, and music theory classes geared toward advanced students.Honors students must register for both honors and festival programs.
Chamber Music Festival Week
Monday, July 13 – Friday, July 17
9:00 am – 3:00 pm or 10:30 am – 4:30 pm
The Festival week will include small ensemble coachings and individual instrument classes with CMC faculty members. Several levels of chamber orchestra reading and performing classes will be offered. Students will also participate in a variety of master classes and workshops with guest artists.
Enrollment & Tuition
Student tuition is $300 for the Festival Week only and $400for both Honors Program and Festival Week. Registration is incomplete unless accompanied by tuition; students will not be enrolled without receipt of tuition. Registration must be postmarked by May 23, 2009.
Lunches may be purchased for an additional fee of $20 during the Chamber Music Festival Week. The Snack Shop will be open throughout the Festival.
Enrollment is limited. Students are considered in the order that completedregistrations are received. The CMC reserves the right to refuse late registrations.
A refund, minus a processing fee of $30, will be made with notice of cancellation by June6, 2009. No refunds will be given for cancellations after this deadline. The CMC, Inc. reserves the right to cancel this program and return all fees in the event of insufficient registration. If the program is canceled, The Chamber Music Connection, Inc. will not be responsible for any losses incurred by registrants.
