The Importance of Classroom Management.

The importance of classroom management is one that is second to none. As a future teacher I completely understand the importance of classroom management. One of the biggest reasons for such a quick burnout in teachers is classroom management. This is something that I am very confident in but understand that this is a learning process. I realize how much emphasis I must put into being able to effectively manage a classroom. The first step in effectively managing a classroom is to establish fair, attainable, and realistic rules in the classroom. In my classroom, I want to take more of a collaborative/teacher-directed approach. I believe it is important to allow students to participate and be responsible for different aspects of the everyday flow of a classroom, but to also allow myself to be there to facilitate and direct students toward constructing and developing an environment conducive to academic and personal growth. Allowing students to participate in the flow of my classroom will help things run much smoother because it will keep my students busy with the development and flow of my classroom. It will allow my students to feel apart of something, that they are making a difference, and in turn will assist students in maturing and increasing overall positive behavior.

Classroom management as a whole is key to teaching at any grade level, developmental level, or content area. It is vital for every teacher to be able to effectively manage a class or else nothing will get accomplished. It is ignorant to say that classroom management is more important in one grade, or less important in another grade. If I want to accomplish the things that I need to accomplish, it would be absolutely impossible to get any of that done if I were unorganized or had an out of control classroom. Classroom management and organization are only a few of the tools that I will need to possess to be able to run a smooth flowing, positive learning, and comfortable atmosphere for my future students to learn.

I have many strengths that will help me to adapt to effectively managing a classroom. I am always open to constructive criticism from others in order to grow as a professional. I have been involved in many different organizations where I held leadership positions. These positions have taught me how to effectively manage, run, and work with others to reach a common goal. I believe that I am becoming more and more prepared each day to be better able to manage a classroom. My strengths such as open-mindedness, humorous, organized, dedicated, and an overall people person are some strength’s that will assist me in managing my future classroom. There are a few different steps that I can take that will allow me to continue to fill up my toolbox. One way that I could do this is by attending different workshops that can prepare me for what I could possibly see once I step foot into a classroom of my own. The most effective thing that I could do though however is just observe when I am in the classroom and be open to change. I must be able to adapt to my surrounding, be dynamic, and learn from my peers, students, and myself.

Rules for my Classroom

  1. When I am talking, please listen.
  2. Respect others (we will talk about what that means).
  3. Raise your hand if you have a question.
  4. Please be on time for class.
