CONNECTION INFORMATION

Satellite delivery of Virginia Cavalier Football and Basketball (Men’s and Women’s) broadcasts as well as the Football & Basketball Coach’s shows are being distributed to station affiliates, NPR, SCPC, Galaxy 16.

Stations that cannot use Satellite will utilize a dedicated Comrex Network.

(This dedicated system cannot be used for any other purpose than UVA sports)

All stations with satellite difficulties DURING the feeds should call the coupler number (800) 846-4760. You will then be prompted to enter the account number (92202342) and the four digit team code (5591). More details on accessing the emergency backup feed can be found on the affiliate website:

If your station will be using, or uses the coupler during a game, for any reason, please communicate this information to Channing Poole via email after the game broadcast.

SCHEDULE CHANGES

During the Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Lacrosse seasons your station will be notified of changes in the broadcast schedule by one of the following methods:

1. Reid Dickersonwill send the information to your station by email forthose changes that can be handled during the normal business day. It is important that you keep us notified of any change to your email address during the Football, Basketball, and Baseball (for those that carry it) seasons.

2. For changes that are given to us with little advance warning, we will put the information out via Comrex DSL/satellite during a 30-minute period prior to the regular broadcast of a Football and Basketball game.

CAVALIER MINUTE

This one minute programming piece featuring a UVA student-athlete or team is updated daily Monday through Friday throughout the academic calendar. It will be available for affiliates to use starting Monday August 29th and will conclude on Tuesday, May 2nd, 2017. Affiliates can download the piece by visiting the affiliate website at The Cavalier Minute will be updated daily on the site by no later than 4 am each day.

BROADCAST PROCEDURES

BEFORE THE GAME

One hour before the NETWORK JOIN TIME, we will feed Guns and RosesSweet Child of Mine down the network via satellite. This is to make sure you are receiving something over the network and allow your board operator to hear how we are leading up to the Network join. We do have 97.5 3WV (LOCAL FM in Charlottesville) playing at all other times if you would like to test then.

COMMERCIAL BREAKS

Affiliates are expected to carry ALL Network commercial breaks.

Formats for football games and coach’s shows are attached to the end of this manual. Any changes to the format and any updates will be posted on the affiliate website

STATION LINERS

There is time for affiliates to air a ten (10) second local station liner at the end of every break throughout the game.

REJOINS/BUMPER MUSIC

The Network will insert roughly five (5) seconds of rejoin music following the previously mentioned ‘station liner’ before returning to pre-game and post-game content.

EXTRA BREAKS

All extra breaks will be NETWORK breaks and sixty (60) seconds with a ten (10) second network id. This will be the policy for overtime as well.

STATION IDENTIFICATION

The Virginia Sports Radio Network will call for station breaks between :55-:05 at the top of the hour.

AUTOMATION -

There will be automation offered on all Network programming beginning with first coach’s show. Any questions about automation should be emailed to Channing Poole.
