The Pony Club is a fun place for you to learn how to ride and care for your pony properly. We want to encourage you to learn through different types of instruction, events and fun activities.

The first thing you must do when you attend Pony Club as a new member is to get your riding hat checked and tagged, as being suitable for Pony Club activities. You must wear your hat at all times when riding and also when in the collecting area of the indoor school. If you change your riding hat you must then make sure that your new hat is checked and tagged. (see Pony Club website for full details – www.pcuk.org )

The Pony Club Rally

What should you wear for a Pony Club rally or jumping day: to conform to Pony Club standards, you should wear: Pony Club Sweatshirt, shirt and Pony Club Tie, jodhpurs (black, navy or beige in colour), hat silks should be either black or navy, jodhpur or long riding boots, gloves and long hair should be suitably tied back.

What should your pony wear? His/her tack should be well fitting, clean, suitable for him/her and numnahs should be navy, black, brown or white.

Be on time! It is unfair to expect the instructors and other members to be held up because you are always late. If you do happen to be late, say you are sorry.

You must pre-book your place at rallies – this ensures that instructors and activities can be pre-arranged; rides and times are notified on the Caithness Pony Club Website - http://branches.pcuk.org/caithness

All rallies start un-mounted; you, your pony and tack will be inspected, this means that a Pony Club representative will check to see that you are safe, comfortable and clean. Your pony is not expected to be sparkling, but dried mud and stains, etc. should be brushed out, along with his/her mane and tail and hooves should be picked out and oiled).

You will be allocated a ride/group to be with and these are normally set for suitability and age.

Remember rallies are for everyone to learn and have fun.
