Dear Parents of 8th Grade Band Students,
The East Cobb Middle School 8th Grade Band will be participating in the Music in the Parks Festival in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee on Saturday, May 2, 2015. Students will perform at Pigeon Forge High School, where they will be judged by three judges and given comments and ratings based on their performance, spend the day at the Dollywood Theme Park, attend the Awards Ceremony in the park, and then return to East Cobb later that evening.
More detailed information will be provided as we draw closer to the actual date of the trip, but for planning purposes, we will be leaving ECMS at approximately 5:00 a.m. and returning to ECMS around midnight. We encourage students to bring cell phones on the trip in order to alert you of specific time details.
The cost of this trip depends on the number of students who are able to participate, but will range from $110.00 to $150.00, minus a portion of the profit your child raised during our fall fundraiser. The cost includes festival fees, transportation to and from ECMS, admission to the park on Saturday, and one free meal voucher to be used in the park. The first installment of $50.00 is due by Friday, February 6th and the final payment will be due by Friday, March 20th. If your child participated in the band fundraiser this past fall, the final payment will be modified to reflect a deduction from the total amount due (50% of the profit your child raised will be credited towards their trip cost). All payments need to be put in one of the school money envelopes and turned in to the money drop box located next to the Media Center (please indicate “Band Trip” on the school money envelope so that your child gets proper credit for the payment). Please note that refunds for the festival cannot be given after Friday, April 2nd, per Music in the Parks’ policy.
Students must demonstrate their ability to maintain a satisfactory grade and behave properly in daily rehearsals in order for the band directors to approve their participation.
The intent form (next page) needs to be turned in by Friday, January 16th and the initial payment needs to be turned in by Friday, February 6th. This is a great reward for a year’s worth of hard work (or three years in many cases!) -- we look forward to this festival! Thank you for your time and your support.
