2015 Bishop’s Annual Appeal
“Serving Christ Among Us”
The Eucharist is the summit and source of the Church’s life (Lumen Gentium, 11) At the Last Supper, Jesus not only gave us this great gift, but he instituted the priesthood so that, in every age and in every place, the Eucharist could be celebrated. The Bishop’s Annual Appeal helps fund the education of our seminarians. With the blessing of increased vocations to the priesthood in our Diocese, comes the obligation to prepare these men who will one day serve our parishes. Your participation in the Appeal helps to make that happen. Please make a pledge to the 2015 Bishop’s Annual Appeal today! For your convenience, you can make an online gift at www.2015appeal.org.

We invite all our Parishioners, and their families, to join us as we gather, as a parish family, on Wednesday, November 25th at 7:00 pm, to celebrate and express our thanks to God for the many blessings and favors bestowed on us during the past year. Mass will also be celebrated on (Thursday) Thanksgiving morning at 8:30 am.

Catholic Home Missions Appeal
One way the Catholic Home Missions Appeal works to support home mission dioceses in the United States is by supporting seminarian formation in poor Dioceses. Often home mission priests and lay ministers require special training to attend to the unique needs of their faith communities. Your support is needed. Please help strengthen the Church at home by making a generous gift to next week’s Appeal.

THIRTY THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
First Reading: Daniel 12:1-3
Daniel discusses the end of the world, a time when the dead shall rise and everyone will be judged. He warns that some shall “be an everlasting horror and disgrace.” But he promises that some will live forever, and the wise will shine brightly to lead others to justice.
Second Reading: Hebrews 10:11-14, 18
Priests repeatedly offered sacrifices that were unable to take away sin. But through Jesus’ one sacrifice, our sins were forgiven, leaving no need for other offerings.
Gospel: Mark 13:24-32
Jesus told his disciples that many signs would be seen before the end of the world. He explained that the earth would pass away but his words would not. He also told them that neither the angels nor himself, but only his Father knew when this would take place.
Mount 2000
Mount 2000 is a Eucharistic retreat for high school students with some of the best and most dynamic Catholic speakers in the country, spend time with seminarians, priests, and religious, enjoy one another's company, and most importantly spend time with the Lord in the Sacraments: in Mass, in Confession, and especially in the time offered for prayer in front of the Eucharist.
Fr. Mateusz at St. Cecilia Church in Rockaway will be leading this high school retreat from February 5 – 7, 2016 at Mount St. Mary University in Emmitsburg, MD. The cost is $50.00 per person. Bus transportation will be provided from St. Cecilia’s. Please contact Jim Clancy at St. Cecilia’s for more information and to RSVP-
Check out their website for more information and FAQ www.mount2000.com
Exciting news!
The Diocesan Children's Choir will continue this year. These young people will join the regular Diocesan Choir this December 6th for the Christmas Concert and have this springboard into the NYC Pueri Cantores Festival in April as well as the Diocesan Celebration for First Communicants with Bishop Serratelli next May.
Children in grades 4-8 are welcome to participate. There will be 4 rehearsals for the Christmas Concert, (listed at www.patersondiocese.org/choir). Children need not be part of a school or parish choir and even 1 child from a parish or school is encouraged to particpate as together from the Diocese they will become many! Music will be provided and there is no registration charge. All rehearsals and the Christmas Concert will be at St. Peter the Apostle in Parsippany.
For questions and/or to register your child, please contact Mrs. Stephanie Hendry, our Music Minister, after the weekend Masses.
This will create a wonderful experience for our young people! / / Weekly Reflections
“HIS WORD TODAY” by Rev. William J. Reilly
THIRTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
November 15, 2013
“Every priest stands daily at his ministry offering frequently those same sacrifices that can never take away sins. But this one offered one sacrifice for sins and took his seat forever at the right hand of God, now he waits until his enemies are made his footstool. For by one offering he has made perfect forever those who are being consecrated. Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer offering for sin.”
On the day of our baptism we were anointed with the holy chrism, and told that we share with Jesus in His ministry of priest, prophet and king. Christ, whose name means the Anointed One, received us as member of His Kingdom, the church. He is the prophetic voice, speaking for God and is God. He is the priest, whose continuing sacrifice we participate in at every mass.
We have been consecrated, set apart to do great works for the Lord. We are concluding the ‘Year of Consecrated Life’, honoring those religious, men and women, and consecrated virgins for their commitment and witness. With them, we live our consecration to build the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
God asked St. Francis to rebuild His church. Francis’ namesake, our Holy Father was set out to do the same, and calls us to work with him to make it happen.

Birth Parents Must Take Action to Preserve Their Privacy
For well over a century, the Catholic Church in New Jersey has provided adoption services. Throughout all those years, the Church promised to honor the privacy of birth parents and adoptees. That promise of privacy also was assured by law and affirmed by the State Superior Court. Those promises can no longer be kept. On May 27, 2014, a new law took effect that will allow adoptees and certain relatives to request and obtain the names of their biological parents beginning January 1, 2017.
Any birth parents who wish to preserve their privacy must submit a Redaction Request Form to the New Jersey Department of Health no later than December 31, 2016. By filing this form, birth parents will be able to keep their names off any documents provided by the State to adoptees or anyone else. The State made the Redaction Request Form public on August 3, 2015. The form can be downloaded at http://nj.gov/health/forms/reg-36c.pdf
If you know a person who placed a child in adoption, please tell them that if they do not file a Redaction Request Form, their name and other information could be given to the adoptee. Anyone needing assistance can call a HELPLINE AT 609-989-4809.

Market Street Mission
We are so thankful for your help and support throughout all these years.
At Christmas time, we collect donations for our Men’s Christmas Bags, and try to make this a special celebration for them. We work hard to make the men feel like they are a part of the Mission family and one way we do this is by distributing gifts to the men at our Christmas Chapel on Christmas Eve.
We are in need of gifts for about 100 men; some of the items we feel the men would like (flannel shirts, thermal underwear, t-shirts, Flannel PJs…etc.) If you would like to collect any of these items, it would be greatly appreciated. I you are interested, please call for sizes still needed (973-993-2871).
