Prerequisite(s): / The student should have reasonably good health and good manual dexterity
and be in the 11th grade and completed the level I of the coarse. Must have a
willingness to learn and perform in a professional manner.
Student Material Needed / · Must have proof of accidently insurance. (Or must take out school insurance.) Attach is a school insurance form. ***cannot do any lab until 100% of insurance forms have been turned in.
· A pair of closed toe shoes ( Must be kept clean and neat at all times) (will need before any lab start)
· USB 2g drive for cosmetology only (place all pictures you have of your journey through the program
· One 2-inch 3 ring binder.
· Five tab dividers for binder.
· Loose leaf paper, pens and pencils (School does not supply)

Course Description: / The Cosmetology Program is designed to prepare the student to qualify for the state cosmetology licensing examination. The student receives training in the art and science of the care and beautification of hair, skin, and nails. The course of study includes scalp treatments, hair shaping, hair styling, setting, waving, hair coloring, and shampoos and rinses. Care of skin and nails includes manicuring and pedicuring, massage, facials, makeup application, and hair removal. Instruction in chemistry, bacteriology, and anatomy and physiology of the face, head, arms, and hands is incorporated by means of theory and of practical application on both mannequins and live models. Also included in the course of study is salon planning and management.

Professionalism
Expectations: / Students are expected to act in a professional manner by meeting deadlines, solving problems, cooperating with classmates, conducting themselves in an orderly manner with a positive attitude and consistently follow all school and classroom expectations. Students will be evaluated on their professional demeanor in class daily.
Grading Procedure / · Test / Quizzes
Theory test and quizzes will be in written form and computer generated.
Students will work on units and throughout the unit will have
Quizzes on small portions of the unit.
Quizzes will be counted I time
Unit test will be counted 3 times
School course site will have review chapter each week to review and test
for the material is due by Fridays @ 4 pm.
· Labs and Projects on a Rubrics system.
(Student will know what is expect of them and what level they are at
anytime in practical portion of the course)
Student will have many projects that will be required to be done
Digital technical will be due No later than 3 days after project . Must be posted in gaggle drop box
· Class work & Homework
Any written work will receive a grade for being done. Some will be checked for competition and some will be check and graded for correct answers.
Daily Journals /Blogs will be grade weekly ( All Due no later than 4pm Friday of each week)
· Professionalism
Student will receive a weekly grade for professionalism. Weekly
professionalism grades will count as 20% of their total grade for
each 9 weeks. They can earn up to 20 points of the weekly grade
daily. Student must be: Present to receive their daily points. Will
receive 4 point for each Key of Professionalism they demonstrate
daily.
· Nine weeks exam
Student will be tested on theory and practical concepts cover through the nine weeks.

Attendance/Make-up Policy / Students are expected to attend class daily. If a student has missed class and was excused he or she can make up written work. Student must make arrangements with instructor within 5 class days for any missed written work that was due. If missed a test the day absent test will only be made-up on the following Wednesday after school. Must be present to start before 4: pm. (NO Exceptions). Failure to do so will result in a 0.
Instructor will not remind student of makeup work or test missed.
Lab work must be made-up on your own time, with 5 day class deadline.
S.C. Board of Cosmetology
Requirements / All rules and regulations of the SC State Board of Cosmetology will be followed or student will not receive LLR hours for the day.
· Must clock in when entering class.
· Must clock out when leaving class.
· Student signature states that they agree with the LLR hours they will be given for the day.
Student without materials for class or clinic will not receive LLR hours or grade for the day. ( will be given written work to do that is required to be turned, in the start of the next school day.)
Student expectations / · All school rules and policies will be followed (see student school handbook).
· Attending class daily
· At all-times will act in a professional manner.
· Come prepared for class. (Will not be allowed to finish dressing in class. You are to come to your job ready to work.)
· Come to class daily with the DETERMINATION, and WILLINGNESS to learn.
· When entering class will be on task getting ready for class with assignment started that is posted on board for the day.
· If having labs for the day, duties are started and complete set up is ready for labs by the designated time is posted. .
· Tardiness and absences, student will be held accountable for.
· Postpone negative judgments.
· No food or drink is allowed on clinic floor.
· Bottled drinks top will be allowed in classroom only.
· Cell Phones will not be used in cosmetology department for personal uses. Student will be allowed to use their own device for projects, blogs and class discussions. Electronic device at all times must be logged on to the internet server that the school provides., .(school policy will be followed)
· During class, cosmetology students will not be permitted to leave class once they have entered the class.
· No more than one student at a time will be permitted to use the restroom. (Student must use the student restroom in the cosmetology lab.)
· The classroom and clinic floor is not a playground. NO HORSE PLAY.
· Rules can be changed at the discretion of the Instructor.
· If caught cheating student will receive zero on work or test.
· If caught stealing, student will be reported to the proper authorities.
· Assignments are to be completed on time.
· Students will not be allowed to leave class early.
·
· Student work area must be kept neat and organized.
· No personal photos or personal items may be kept on station.
· All purses and other personal items must be kept in locked cabinet located in the classroom.
· All floors and aisle ways must be kept unobstructed.
· No kits may be used as storage at stations.
· Hydraulic chairs, dryer chairs, shampoo chairs, and manicuring chairs are for clients. Students may not sit in them unless permission has been given by instructor.
· All services performed on students must be approved by Instructor.
· Daily task sheets must be turned in at the end of each day. Late task sheets will not be accepted.
· Daily sanitation checks must be performed by each student. Check the sanitation list for your weekly task. Students will be required to clean their station, chair, chair base, and mirror daily.
· Dispensary items must be checked out by students. Each student is responsible for the items he / she fail to return to the dispensary.
· The usage of Cosmetology Equipment is a privilege and if taken advantage of or mistreated will result in student not being allowed to use it anymore.
· Misuse of restroom in clinic area will not be tolerated
· Destroying or damaging school or department properties will result in student having to replace what is damaged.
Unprofessional Attitude
