VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
POSITION: Career Development Coordinator (CDC)
DESCRIPTION:In partnership with the building administrator, guidance counselor, teachers, and the community college liaison, the CDC will promote and create a college-going and career readiness culture. This individual will ensure that all high school students will have the means, opportunity and preparation to succeed in post-secondary education, at either a two or four-year college, a career, or in military service. The CDC will cultivate and foster positive working relationships with parents, business/industry, postsecondary institutions, and community organizations to guide students in their college search, selection, and application and support students’ transition to postsecondary education and employment.
REPORTS TO:Principal
QUALIFICATIONS:NC Teaching License in Career and Technical Education or a Masters in School Counseling with a minimum of 3-5 years of successful education experiences.
Willing to obtain NC CDC Licensure.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate activities to assist students in making realistic educational choices resulting in the selection of an appropriate course of study.
- Facilitate activities which enable students to move successfully through their selected courses of study from beginning courses to higher level courses.
- Provide students help as they move from middle to high school and from high school to post-secondary education, military service and/or employment.
- Establish linkage between school and community that offers support for CTE and opportunities for students.
- Publicize CTE programs and accomplishments to provide heightened community awareness of educational and career opportunities.
SALARY: State Salary Scale – 11-month position
