AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 1627 OF 1972, RELATING TO THE DORCHESTER COUNTY VOCATIONAL EDUCATION BOARD OF TRUSTEES, SO AS TO REVISE THE APPOINTMENT OF THE SEVEN MEMBERS OF THE BOARD.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Dorchester County Vocational Education Board

SECTION1.Section 1 of Act 1627 of 1972 is amended to read:

“Section 1.There is hereby created in Dorchester County the Dorchester Vocational Education Board of Trustees, which shall be a body politic and corporate, and which shall consist of seven members as follows: (1) one member of the board shall be appointed from each of the two school districts in Dorchester County by a majority of the board of trustees of the district from the membership of the board, and these two members shall be voting members but shall serve ex officio; (2) five members shall be appointed by a majority of the Dorchester County Legislative Delegation. All members shall serve for a term of three years and until their successors are appointed and qualify, except that of those initially appointed, the members appointed by the school districts shall serve for terms of two years and until their successors are appointed and qualify. Vacancies on the board of trustees shall be filled in the manner of the original appointment for the unexpired portion of the term only.”

Time effective

SECTION2.This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
