INFORMATION FOR CANDIDATES

trusts and foundations officer

BACKGROUND

Guildford Cathedral is the mother church of the Diocese of Guildford, covering 500 square miles of Surrey, north east Hampshire, the London Borough of Kingston and a part of West Sussex. With a seating capacity of 1000, the Cathedral provides both focus and resource for the whole community, a venue for concerts, art and education, a place of pilgrimage, as well as stillness, prayer and daily choral worship. A building of national significance, the Cathedral attracts nearly 60,000 visitors annually.

The Cathedral principal decision-making body is known as Chapter. Support for all areas of our work comes from a committed team of staff led by our Director of Operations. In the last few years the operations of the Cathedral have grown and a number of new ventures have been launched. In the last month we have appointed an External Relations Director (ERD) who will join the staff in June 2012 but be part of the interview panel for this new role. The responsibilities of the ERD include coordination and direction of fund-raising, communications and marketing. The new Trusts and Foundations Officer will work in the External Relations Department and build upon some of the work undertaken by previous fund-raisers employed by the Cathedral. They will also provide general administrative support in fund-raising, marketing and communications for our External Relations Director. The Trusts and Foundations Officer will ideally start at the same time as the ERD in June.
