Please read the following information before filling out and returning your submission.

The deadline for submissions is midday on Sunday 6th August. We will endeavor to have made a decision by 13th August. We get back to all of our applicants, but if you have not heard from us by then for any reason, please feel free to email in to enquire as to our decision.

Performance slots in the auditorium are restricted to 10 minutes per act, apart from the musician and visual artists who will play or display their work in the bar area. The musician will play at the beginning and/or at the end of the show and the visual artists will show their work from 6pm to the end of the evening. The art will be monitored by a member of staff during the show.

Please return your completed submission to:

We accept applications from any of the following:

1)  Companies/groups with a performance piece. The piece may be a play, a dance, a mime, circus, or any other kind of performance art;

2)  Individuals, or groups of writers, directors or producers with an idea, who wish to be matched with others to produce it;

3)  Singer-songwriters;

4)  Visual artists;

Please note, we only accept submissions from individuals who are 16 years of age or above.

We do NOT accept applications from:

1)  Individual performers without a specific idea, wishing to be matched with a team.

2)  Aerial performers. Unfortunately, Chelsea Theatre does not currently have rigging in place to support aerial performance, but we hope to be able to offer this in the future, within the restricted height that the theatre ceiling offers.

Please note, we encourage submissions from (but not solely from) individuals who are primarily performers but who are keen to try their hand at writing, directing or producing, providing you come with an idea. Furthermore, applicants for the show in the auditorium are restricted to submitting one idea.

On the day

We ask that all participants performing in the theatre make themselves available throughout the day as we aim to assign each group with rehearsal and tech time, followed by a dress rehearsal. It is compulsory that at least one member of each group attend their assigned technical rehearsal, and that all are present at the dress rehearsal (which usually starts at around 4.30pm).

We ask that visual artists be available from 5pm in order to leave time to set up the exhibition.

Musicians will play in the bar area before and/or after the show. We ask musicians that make themselves available at the theatre for 5.30pm.

Please note that unfortunately we do not have a budget to cover transport costs. If you are transporting set, props, artwork or instruments etc., please make suitable arrangements.
