- Discussion of results & changes by Program Outcome:
- PLO #1: Learners will identify social & cultural influences affecting family life (Families in Individual Contexts)
- PLO #2: Learners will recognize healthy & unhealthy characteristics pertaining to family relationships (Internal Dynamics of Families)
- PLO #3: Learners will apply appropriate practices based on theories of human growth & development to individuals & families.
- PLO #4: Learners will apply strategies based on the child’s age/stage of development to promote effective developmental outcomes (Parent Education & Guidance).
- PLO #5: Learners will develop culturally-competent educational materials & learning experiences. (Family Life Education Methodology)
- PLO #6: Learners will demonstrate professional behaviors that are reflective of ethical standards & practice. (Professional Ethics & Practice)
- Action plan for all PLO’s:
- Faculty decided to raise the criterion for success for al PLOs to 80% for AY 17-18 forward.
- Program Goals 2016-17:
- Strengthen partnership between HDFS and Practicum Site Supervisors
- Clarify Faculty/Site supervisor expectations: not yet completed: Discussed how to strengthen accountability and modify paperwork so expectations can be clarified early and line of communication between faculty and supervisors is strengthened;
- Provide extensive list of tasks that students could be assigned at each task – completed: Dr. Newquist and Dr. Mize have expanded the list of tasks
- Expand list of sites in the local area – completed: Nacogdoches Senior Citizen Center and other new sites added
- Host a Fall meeting – completed: We held a luncheon with faculty and supervisors.
- Develop course for Family Communication to better align with NCFR Requirements for Certified3.

- Recruitment
- Communication with program coordinators across campus about the addition of HDFS minor: We have communicated with Linda Levitt (Women and Gender Studies/Communication) and Sarah Savoy (Psychology) – partially completed
- Update Articulation agreements and serve on Advisory Boards in Comm. Colleges –partially completed
- Finalize memorandum of understanding with the ChildCare Education Institute – delete
- Program Goals for 2017-18
- Recruitment/Promoting HDFS:
- In spring 2018 (Feb) hold an advising luncheon to promote the HDFS minor and new courses – invite faculty/advisors across campus
- Expand our Advisory Board
- Nurture relationships with community colleges – revisit faculty assignments; update Articulation Agreements; serve on Advisory Boards at Comm. Colleges; potentially hold luncheon
- Reach out to admitted students who have not enrolled -Ambassadors will call and student worker email the 1st Monday of every month; maybe reach out to parents of students
- Revise HDFS minor: Change requirements for minor; 146, 236, plus 12 advanced hours
- Push through curriculum change: 400 should be co-requisite with 420
- Revise practicum (342/420) paperwork: Clarify Faculty/Site supervisor expectations

-We will invite Dr. Armstrong to come talk to HDFS faculty about his course
