August Homework Calendar
Daily 20 minutes of reading – This is a great activity to do with your bedtime routine. It’s a way to unwind and spend positive, quality time with your child. Here are some ideas: *Keep reading fun and pleasant *Find a comfortable place to read*Discuss the title and all of the pictures before reading *Read TO your child*Read WITH your child *Laugh, smile, use different voices when reading * Take turns reading* Point to the words and read a short piece, then allow your child to point and repeat what you read. *Read a variety of literature (books, kid magazines, comics, poems, recipes, notes, dictionaries, and articles of your child’s interests on an ipad or computer……)

(Parents… get your child to elaborate by saying, “Tell me about….. (what you learned today in math/reading/science…., the rules, your classmates, books you read, your teacher, your lunch, recess…)

* Read and discuss the School and Classroom Rules sheet with a parent.
Draw a picture and/or write about one of the rules.

* Practice saying and writing your full name, address, telephone number and birthday with a parent. Return this assignment to school on Friday in the back pocket of your Homework Folder.

*Read 20 minutes/sign reading log / Return both written assignments to school on Friday in the back pocket of your Homework Folder.
Continue working on Me Bags. Students will begin sharing them next week.
