Any other comments: Crucial Crew is an interactive project where 10 and 11 year olds obtain key safety messages across 9 challenges. Scenarios are interactive and include watching a short DVD, viewing a Powerpoint presentation, moving around on the floor for water safety and first aid. Taking part in a quiz, making a magnetic puzzle and having a small bang in the electricity scenario. Walking around some cones with ‘beer goggles on’ (instructor walks alongside young person taking part), being part of the fire service simulation where a mock bedroom is used to outline fire safety messages before the room is filled with ‘disco’ smoke and a fire-fighter comes into the scenario. The final challenge includes a ‘stranger’ attempting to get a group of children to follow them, before the police step in to highlight the importance of personal safety awareness.
Crucial Crew has been running in Ipswich for 20 years and is a low risk activity, safety measures are place to ensure that the event runs smoothly.
