These are guidelines only
Activity / Dress / Boots/Spurs / Hat / Stick / TackWorking Rallies / Branch sweatshirt or jacket, white long-sleeved shirt and PC Tie, or stock shirt and stock, and Badge. White, Cream or Beige jodhpurs/breeches and gloves. Long hair must be tied up and secured in a hairnet. Spurs – only with permission from DC unless ‘B’ Test has been achieved. No jewellery (including sleepers) or body piercing. / Jodhpur boots with clips or half chaps (no tassels or fringes) or long boots. Chaps same colour as boots. Spurs: only with DC's permission letter, unless ‘B’ Test has been achieved. / PAS 015: 1998 or 2011 ONLY with BSI Kitemark, Snell E2001, AS/NZS 3838 1998, 2003 or 2006. ASTM-F1163 2004a with the SEI mark. VG1 with BSI Kitemark. Black, dark blue or brown cover. / Allowed / Please arrive with any tack you might need for flatwork and/or jumping. Only white, cream, navy, brown or black numnahs or saddle pads and girths are permitted; no logos or lettering. Piping must be of the same colour as the pad. Stirrups must have 7mm (¼”) clearance on either side of boot. Bridle reins not allowed. Humane Girths have now been completely banned in the Pony Club. Neck straps are allowed and are recommended for all jumping activities
Cross Country Rallies / Branch sweatshirt or cross country colours, PC Tie/stock (without pin) and gloves. Long sleeves must be worn. Body Protector is Compulsory and must meet BETA 2009 Level 3 standard (purple label). Woof Wear EXO Body Cage: key MUST be lodged with the organiser. Air Vests may be worn but must only be used in addition to a normal body protector; in the event of a fall it must be fully deflated or removed before continuing. No jewellery (including sleepers) or body piercings are allowed. Medical Arm Bands must be worn on the arm or shoulder at all times when going XC. / Jodhpur boots with clips or half chaps (no tassels or fringes) or long boots. Chaps same colour as boots. Spurs: only with DC's permission letter, unless ‘B’ Test has been achieved. / As for Working Rallies, branch coloured cover if preferred. When jumping fences 0.80m high and above (in tests, training or competition) a jockey skull cap, with no fixed peak, must be worn. It is also recommended a jockey skull cap is worn for XC riding over lower fences / Max length 30” or 76cm / As for Working Rallies. Brushing boots/bandages for leg protection as required. Neck straps are actively encouraged.
Dressage Competitions / Tweed jacket with either PC tie or coloured stock or blue/black jacket with PC tie or white/cream stock. White, Cream or Beige jodhpurs or breeches. Gloves must be worn. Long hair must be tied up and secured in a hairnet. No jewellery (including sleepers) or body piercing. PC badge with current test felt must be worn on the left lapel. Dark coloured breeches or jodhpurs may not be worn. Horse/pony must be plaited. / Jodhpur boots with clips or half chaps (no tassels or fringes) or long boots. Chaps same colour as boots. Spurs: only with DC's permission letter, unless ‘B’ Test has been achieved. / As for Working Rallies: black, dark blue or brown cover / Any length / As for Working Rallies - Check the current Rule Book for permitted bits. No bit guards, martingales, boots or bandages may be worn during the test. Fly fringes, Nose gauzes and Ear covers are permitted during riding in and also in competitions outdoors during summer months; they are not to be worn for indoor competitions. Boots/bandages may be worn in warm-up. Only cavesson nosebands with or without flash or drop nosebands may be used.

Eventing Competitions / Dressage and Showjumping as above. Cross Country - Branch long sleeved XC top. Body Protector is recommended to be worn at all times, but is COMPULSORY for XC. Must meet BETA 2009 Level 3 standard (purple label). If wearing the Woof Wear EXO Body Cage the key MUST be lodged with the organiser. Air Vests must only be used in addition to a normal body protector; in the event of a fall it must be fully deflated or removed before continuing. Your pony must be plaited for Dressage phase. No jewellery (including sleepers) or body piercing Medical Arm Bands are compulsory for XC and some competitions require them for SJ. / Jodhpur boots with clips or half chaps (no tassels or fringes) or long boots. Chaps same colour as boots. Spurs: only with DC's permission letter, unless ‘B’ Test has been achieved. / As for Working Rallies with coloured cover for XC if required. Fences 0.80m high and above a jockey skull cap, with no fixed peak, must be worn. It is also recommended a jockey skull cap is worn for XC riding over lower fence / Max. length 76cm, Min. Length 45cm for XC & SJ. Dressage: Levels PC70 to PC90 - any length. PC100 and over - NO WHIP / As for Working Rallies and Dressage, but a grackle or Mexican noseband may be worn. SJ as above. XC as for SJ – an over girth is recommended. For all phases, nosebands and brow bands must be of plain black or brown leather. Check current Rule Book for all permitted bits. Brushing boots or bandages with leg protection are allowed for XC. Over-reach boots are allowed in SJ and XC. Neck straps may be wornShow Jumping Competitions / As for Dressage, but gloves optional. Plaiting is not obligatory (Plaiting is obligatory at Area Competitions). No jewellery (including sleepers) or body piercing / Jodhpur boots with clips or half chaps (no tassels or fringes) or long boots. Chaps same colour as boots. Spurs: only with DC's permission letter, unless ‘B’ Test has been achieved. / As for Working Rallies / Max. length 75cm Min. length 45cm / As for Working Rallies and Dressage, except pelhams, kimblewicks, gag snaffles, American or continental gags may be used. Check current Rule Book for all permitted bits. Running, standing, Irish or bib martingales are permitted. If used, bit guards must be smooth on both sides and black or brown. Cavesson, drop, grackle, flash or kineton nosebands are permitted, but only one may be worn at a time. Brushing boots or openfronted boots may be worn.
General:
- Usually in competition under 16’s should wear a PC tie and those over 16 or with their full B test wear a stock – stock pin should be removed for XC.
- Spurs if worn must be no longer than 3.5cm fitted, with any curve pointing downwards. They must be blunt and without rowels or sharp edges.
- Studs – seek advice if you are unsure.
- Please check the most up to date rule book for each discipline and contact the discipline organiser if you have any questions.
- A body protector must be worn under an air jacket for all XC activities but an air jacket may be worn on its own for SJ.
