FUEL PRICE REPORT OCTOBER 2007

The price of Brent crude oil has risen past $83 per barrel,but the full impact has yet to filter through to pump prices which fell slightly in September. Pressure on fuel prices has also been aggravated by low gasoline reserves in the US.

Nationally, unleaded prices have risen by 2.5ppl to 97.7ppl. Diesel prices have also risen by 2.9 pplto 99.8ppl. The price difference between unleaded and diesel has increased from 1.7ppl to 2.1ppl.

East Angliaand Londonrecorded the highest price for unleaded at 98.2ppl followed by Northern Ireland, the South East and South West at 98.1ppl. Scotlandrecorded the lowest price for unleaded at 96.5ppl. The South Westrecorded the highest diesel prices at 100.3ppl, followed byEast Angliaand Walesat 100.2ppl. The North Weststill has the cheapest diesel at 99.1ppl.

Supermarket prices for unleadedalso roseover the month by 2.6ppl to 96.0ppl. The gap between supermarket prices and the UK average for unleaded has fallen slightly to 1.7ppl (last month the difference was 1.8ppl).

Overseas prices have also risen. The UK has the fourthhighest unleaded price in Europe and the second highest diesel price.
